He does a good job of explaining why he and Maria broke away from the other Theosophic factions--especially those centered around spiritualism.

@gatver22 In his Autobiography, Steiner discusses his tenure with the Theosophy Society and his evolving departure from the early factions around 1904-1905 and his establishment of the Anthroposophy Society c. 1909. Also, take a look at his 1916 lectures/book on Secret Societies. Though he doesn't name names, some are obvious from his other writings. He does a good job of explaining why he and Maria broke away from the other Theosophic factions--especially those centered around spiritualism.

The connotation and denotation of terms has always made such matters difficult to discuss. However, the historical split really gelled when Steiner, who had presided over the Berlin group of the Theosophical Society broke away with his faction known as the Anthroposophical Society around 1909. The Anthroposophical group was more transparent while the remaining Theosophists became more cladestine through the end of WWI as they aligned themselves with various pro-Aryan groups.

I am interested in how you might interpret the ecumenical meeting that Steiner convened with 57 clergy members in which he delivered his his lectures "The Work of the Priest." and his work with Lutheran and Catholic priests to develop "The Christian Community." It seems that these efforts helped to form the core of resistance in Germany to the Nazi regime through WWII and the emergence of the Cristian Democratic Union at war's end.

We must remember that "occult" is not synonomous with demonology. It simply means known to a few. Indeed, the the counter-clockwise and the clock-wise suns are two sides of the same coin. The observed direction of the spin depends upon which side one views the wheel. There's no transition required - Newtonian / mechanistic is how things work at this level, the sub-atomic applies to - the sub-atomic. Wotan or Jesus is this Piscean Age (Icthyus, Delphi, Nile inundation, Neptune). The ying-yang is those two opposites, but it's one thing really, they can't be separated. It's dynamic equilibrium - to make the universe, the golden cut requires that one part is longer than the other.
Steiner was one of many naturalists that weren't listened to properly, so we have this out of balance world that has ruined nature all the more than it did previously since 1945.

The Tibetan reference to the meaning of clockwise vs counter-clockwise orientation and rotation presumably had an influence on this choice. In addition, we must remember that Steiner was an integral figure in the Theosophist movement until about 1910 when he initiated his esoteric group within, before moving in his own direction.
