@richythepianoman the benfits of using a supercharger is that the tourqe is there all the time. its driving by a rubberbelt thats mounted on the engine.. the Turbocharge system is relying on the revs to be up.. its depended on the exhaust to blow out steam/fire ;) hehe. Ive owned an audi s4 avant my self- the good old 5cyl with turbo. the way a turbo deliver its power is often more powerfull,but the supercharger stays pumping power out all times.:)

"V"-Engines have 2 exhaust manifolds, so you would always have to install 2 Turbos, if you want to use a Turbo, because they are mounted there. A Supercharger is much easier to install to those engines.

The known advantages of superchargers (no Turbo-lag) aren't really advantages in cars like this, that already have traction problems, when they come stock, so i'm pretty sure, the only REAL reason to use superchargers with BIG engines is that it's much easier to install

I work for bmw, so yes I'm aware. I like the n/a roots, high revs, and great output per liter just as much as anyone, and its their benchmark I support it a lot. However, bmw also built one of the first turbo cars, The 2002 tii, so it's not completely irrational to hate on the new bmw turbos. Bmw was basically forced to use them for emmissions and to be able to compete with large displacement f/i engines arising from their competition.

well, the ///M line with the exception of the X's has been completely n/a so far. I don't like that the new M5 might use a v8 tt and shed the high rev v10, but you have to ask, where can they go?? They NEED 600hp with mod-ability to compete. V12 too big/heavy, v10 with larger displacement than 5L equalls less revs/heavier. Bmw has better engines but audi's big liters plus turbos are almost impossible to compete with, using a small n/a engine, even the best. Not to mention mod-ability of a turbo
