Also... Hanson? ... HANSON!? Way to show your ages, guys. Go back to your grandparents basements, because obviously your actual parents are far too cool for you.
Oh for fucks sakes... you guys again, again? Fuck. Ok, let's actually try to make it through your review... trying so hard... oh fuck you guys suck. I agree with some of what you say, but... this is not excellent. Plain and simple, even though you're trying to be cool with your beers out in the open and your "adult language", trying to be very really mature and forced commentary? Yeah... shit, there's really no words... just stop "helping" the comic reading community, right now. Just. Stop.
the blackest night is incredible i love it hawkmans skull got smashed in!!! hey i live in chandler n i was looking for issue 2 and 4 in the blackest night series and i was wondering do you know where i can get one besides the internet.
also just thought of this. I love barry allen i picked up a few (including number 1) a few of the flash fastest man alive series that i didn't like that much.
GL was the first comic i have really read and followed (started with BN #0 then bougth GL 40.) but wo i was blown away by it! I didn't feel the emotional connection true. but still amazing work i have bouf=ght every tie in (doesn't mean i enjoyed them) except for the seconed outsiders one. This is just amazing! then i read GL secret orgin everything just went BAM! whole new level! I LOVE DC AND I LOVE GEOFF JOHNS! Marvel ni have read... really meh kinda think deadpool's funny kinda trying it meh
Blackest Night is about every DC hero and or villian who had died in the past and are brought back to life by black power rings. Its part of a Green Lantern arc.
Hey guys just want to say this is my first time watching the show. The Blackest Night is utterly incredible in fact one of my great friends is a huge marvel reader and hated DC for the longest time. Well now he is a DC reader because of this book.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i DON'T SEE THE POINT OF THIS WHOLE BLACKNEST NIGHT story. To begin with, I find geoff john's multi colored emotion based rings to be unconvincing as good science fiction. Just not my thing really. However, his run on Action Comics and JSA was TRULY TRULY GREAT WORK. His brainiac arc for action comics to me is his best written work. i've never found any of his GL stuff to be any good. Peter Tomasi's GLC is better.
its not only about GL, they put that in GL coz it was about the rings of power. That story will bring dead people alive, ( Batman... HELLO ! ) kill some, bring back others ( Conner Kent ) Its gonna be a complete crossover, way better than Final Crisis.
This was a good show, I think anytime you guys review all DC books, you should do the show without Pete. All he does is talk about how much DC books "suck".
Black Lanterns are like Pete's polar opposite -- a Marvel Zombie.
So alex based on what your wife said about Blackest Night are you say that i as a person who has never picked up an issue of green lantern would get and enjoy this story. I wouldn't need to buy the the lantern stories that ran up to this one.
I wouldn't recommend it. You will probably be lost if you pick up Blackest Night. You definitely need to have knowledge of Green Lantern to get what is going down with all the other Lanterns.
The 2 issues of Superman Beyond alone can overshadow all the events of Blackest Night. Superman has literally dealt with the very housing (overvoid)of (DCU )reality. Mandraak was/is the ultimate Dark Lord of the DCU. Mandraak could eat and fart out guardians in a blink like nothing.
Hey for your info, before the GLs stepped in to deliver the final blow, it took the combined might OF ALL THE SUPERMEN FROM THE ENTIRE MULTIVERSE TO WEAKEN the Dark monitor re-animated by Mandraak's blood. IT WASN'T EVEN MANDRAAK HIMSELF. This was a lesser monitor than Mandraak. Face it man, guardians are as powerful as tacos to Maandraak. Hold the onions.
Being a DC outsider and having picked up B.N, I too did not feel ANY emotional connection to any characters. Nothing like seeing Goliath die in civil war, or having Rick lose a hand. QUICK!! WHO UNDERSTOOD THAT!!!?
That is the best thing I'm looking forward to this event. (Other then the fantastic story and art) Is seeing the ridiculous Golden Age and Obscure Heroes/Villains.
I'm completely on board for Blackest Night! Johns has such a better ability to craft a story. This is going to be what Final Crisis should have been. I think all the threads that have been running since Identity Crisis are going to get closure. I hope the situation with the Dibny's gets handled well, Ralph's was one of my favorite stories through 52.
I haven't read this yet, but isn't a bunch of rings with corresponding emotions just the premise for Captain Planet? Any chance of seeing our aqua marine skinned, green haired, friend showing up for some fun?
It makes sense that Ralph and Sue Dibney killed the Hawks,i s that they never treated each other really all that great yet they love each other whenever they start to get killed. While Ralph and Sue didn't deserve any of the stuff that happen to them. They were the first to fall in a lot of the stuff that's now build up. They're pissed that they didn't get a second chance (well not yet or OF they can.) Also Deadman suppose to be helping out in Batman comics how does that work.
I didn't realize teh guy on the right was married until he touched his rign and I was like "What was that?" and I saw the ring and I was like "Oh, he's married.".
I am from Syracuse! I grew up in Central Square mostly and we would always go to Ichiban on special occasions. In fact I was just back there at the end of June for my little bro's high school graduation and we went out and had a blast at ichiban.
The ending to this was crazy! I didn't know how to feel about it right away, since I love Hawkman's character and Ralph Dibny. However, after some thought I realized that it was a great way to kick off an event.
Already this series is what Final Crisis and Marvel's Secret Invasion failed at being.
another outside POV i only read marvel but i have been checkin in on GL for a while..and i honestly belive that Blackest Night is every accessible..im familiar with the main characters but with the Elongatedman/Sue/Hawks/Atom thing i wasnt real invested the 'emotion' of the death of Hawks being killed by Eman/Sue but i honestly think Blackest Night is very accesble to likes like me who dont read any DC and jus know the main charcters
Blackest Night kicked ass. It's already what Final Crisis wasn't. I liked Tales of the Corps, but I think from here on I'm only picking up the main Blackest Night series, and the regular Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps series.
Alex, I am thinking that the scal of power increase ( the .01 and .02 as shown) is the total charge of the black "battery" (whatever that could be) and not the scale of power charge for the individual black lanterns. You may be right, of course, cause damn I am good at being wrong. Can't wait for Dead Arthur next issue. Welcome Back Justin and as always, thanks for the show guys.
All Green Lantern, well now I know how those people feel when they do all Marvel and don't read Marvel. Me, I'm all about Marvel. So yeah, I'm with Pete on GL. I tried it when people kept saying how good it was and I just fell asleep.
Great reviews guys! Felt the same way you did on both books. Looking forward to finding out more about the Indigo Tribe. Their story in BN: TotC felt like reading a silent issue. The thing I'm most interested in right now is where everyone is going to end up at the end of the series, particularly Black Hand and all the dead Lanterns. And, yes, that scene with Ralph and Sue was creepy as hell. Looking forward to Martian Manhunter's confrontation with Hal and Barry in this weeks Green Lantern.
whats up with the black lantern's having short sleaves? it just looks silly to me. like they're that annoying guy at the gym who insists on flexing near the bar
Good to have Justin back! I agree with the Hawks' death, because I am not familiar, but I think we will connect with them as the event goes on. My problem with Secret Invasion was that it had SUCH potential and then nothing happened except Norman Osborn took over the Marvel U.
Final Crisis was an okay story but it wasn't a universe altering event like DC hyped it to be. BN is more akin to a earth shaking crisis.
