Damn,This was,And Still The Best Thang That Hit WAX In My YOUTH,Let Me DROP SOME GAME, Back then Jill Scott-Herion Came Out With The Group,"LAST POETS"! This WAS on Wax Before Them,SO EVERYBODY SAY THEY WAS THE ORGINAL RAPPERS, I SAY BULLSHIT,THIS IS MY ERROR! GREW UP ON THIS SHIT,RAN DA STREETS ON THIS SHIT,MY BROTHERS PIMPED ON THIS SHIT,GOT MY GAME FROM THIS SHIT (Other Then My Brothers) Still Flossing The REAL SHIT, OH BY THE WAY I'M IN MY 50'S THERE IT IS.........LIVED IT SEEN IT!
Hustlers Convention was a two set LP by Cool and the Gang. Inspired by Don Juan, Chicagos mainest pimps yearly player ball. Which had a cash contest for baddest player in Chicago. This was based on finarncial intake, dress, ride, and bitches. Don Juan won almost every time. Gold is for the honey. Green is for the money. For all you ladies out there. ♥
Ah, so this is where the Intro for Red hot Chili Pepper's Nevermind comes from! Kinda ironic to put a homage in a song that is about "everyone but me sucks"
The poem/rap by Lightning Rod is none other than brother Jalal Mansur Nurridin from the Last Poets. Also sampled by the Dis Masters Crew in 1987 for the joint, "Part-time Hustler."
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! SUPERPLASTICFUNKYPHANTASTIC!! OMG!! one of the best bass turns of ever!
SPORT! SUPERLATIVES GALORE FOR THIS CLASSIC DANCE TRACK! WHEN THE HUSTLER'S CONVENTION LP WAS RELEASED IN '73 (U.A. 156), ANYONE KNOW WHY THIS KICKING SONG WAS NOT RELEASED AS A SINGLE?!?! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS SONG, AS RELEVANT TODAY AS IT WAS THEN! THANKS! DAVEDJT WHY
What is a 70's funk track without a wah-wah guitar and a tight bass line. This is when Kool and the Gang brought da' funk, not frat party anthems like "Celebrate". My only complaint is that it's only 2:35 long. Other than that, it's on baby!!!!!!!!!!!!
same -i used to run a bar and I would make up funk and soul compilations to play in there on friday and saturday nights - this was one of those few songs that, the minute it came on, you could actually see people's faces go "wow, wtf is that" - love it.

@thebeefyscrew I do the same thing in my bar. What exactly is a punter? I'm a yank and as Oscar Wild says we are divided by a common language(lol}

Awesome tune. Gangstarr Ex to the Next Girl is my favourite use of this as a sample. Didn't know it was Kool and the Gang though thanks.
