I live in Moncton. I know how drivers can be, but I also know how pedestrians can be. They "assume" people are just going to stop for them. It's both drivers and pedestrian's job to watch out. I've almost been hit, & I'm not the type to assume anything. I've also almost hit pedestrians. It can happen to anyone.
I drove by when it happened. It's main street...very busy and the straight continuing lane shifts from inside to outside...its stupid. People cross all the time 15ft from a crosswalk and drivers come close. Many people would be hit if drivers didn't spot them. This street is senonymous with people crossing so drivers know to pay attention. Not the first time someone gets hit. People crossing need to pay attention and not have an attitude towards drivers.
the driver was not texting and i no i was in the car and its true every one does assume that drivers are texting but in a lot of cases thats not true. the people walked over the snow bank about 10 or 15 feet in front of the cross walk and we were on the inside lane so they must have just started walking when we were half way through the turn. i dont think pedestrians should have the right to do that. they shoud watch the road like drivers have to do
I almost hit someone because they decided to cross on a red light.. Some pedestrians think they are either (a) invisible or (b) I'm at a cross walk therefore you have to stop on a dime cause I want to cross now rather then wait for you to pass.
I have a question?? Why when a person gets hit by a car people assume "they are texting or on the phone" I was hit by a car and the person who hit me wasn't paying attention. They were more consirned on what was going on behind them then infront of them.. Not trying to start an argument.. Assumption gets you no where...
the road conditions may have been dry at the time but the people did not use the crosswalk and just walked out in front of the car half way through the turn. the sun was just setting and it was bright and you could not see a thing.....i no ....just to make it clear.
