I recently bought a 2tb seagate 5600 rpm internal hdd , but it only registers as 931 gigs what the hell is the problem ? and how do i fix it. Iam using windows 7 and it refuses to allow me to exceed 931 gigs , although it says 2tb on the hard drive
@ghostmarine1000 Youll never get to use every gb a hdd holds. But with yours I find it crazy! Not even reading 1tb.It should register 1,995gb at least.I never had a hdd biger then a tb,so im sorry I can't help you much.I was like wow I have to comment lol.Where did you buy it from?Is it used?
@ghostmarine1000 i know its an old comment, but did u figure this out? I read today that even if you have a large capacity hard drive your mother board may not support it. If your motherboard can only handle 40gb than putting a 500gb hd wont give you additional space. I also seen where someone said u have to reset your bios, so I am curious if reseting your bios would allow you to use the bigger hard drive...
I have an old drive and my motherboard is on SATA. i have an old connection on my motherborad and the cd-rom is in it. can i put the old drive in the cd-rom ceonnection on the motherboard ?
Some of those SATA/IDE converters are totally crap. Some work (kind of), but reduce throughput to 1/10 what it should be. You've spent 11 mins on the easy part -- plugging in the cables -- but zero time on the hard part, which is finding a converter which actually works properly.
how abaut wth out a jumper will it work?
