'Obscured by Clouds' was the bridge between the somewhat inaccessible Floyd of 'Atom Heart Mother' and 'Meddle' and the more familiar and, in my opinion, focused Pink Floyd that the world is more familiar with. It's such an overlooked album/soundtrack, and that's a shame because it's beautiful.
I was watching the dvd and at the end of it, this song started....Wonderfull song, I never heard it before....Live at Gdansk is amazing, I like all the songs. Great David, Great Rick and all those guys....perfect
@demazejr By yourself obscured by clouds. Find somewhere by yourself, somewhere in the sun. Play it and lie back. Trust me, your life will change for the better.
Lord Almighty, this is Heaven in my ears. Thank you for giving me the gift of life, and the chance to experience music like this. And to have walked this earth together with these genius people we know as Pink Floyd.
@bwd81977 ditto ! It didnt get any better than obscured by clouds. way ahead of its time in terms of David G's guitar sound and techniques. Childhoods end just awesome.
@MultiDean75 Yeah, its actualy really hard for me to pick out a favorite song from that album because they're all so good. Mudmen also s especialy sublime. Do you know by chance what type of overdrive device that David uses to get an overdriven tone? Is it a fuzz pedal or a tube driver of some kind?
Such a lovely little gem of a song. An example of Roger's humanitarian lyrics and David and Rick's musical textures blending perfectly to make magic! One of my Floyd favourites.
I have to agree - I never listened to Obscured for years because so many people wrote it off as a bad album. Once I listened to it, I was shocked by how good it was and how many memorable songs there were. For example, THIS ONE!!
Obscured By Clouds is not a weak album, not by any stretch of the imagination. It's absolutely phenomenal and a nice bridge between Meddle and Dark Side of the Moon.
I would actually surmise that if you polled 100 Pink Floyd fans and ask them what the band's weakest album was, most would say Atom Heart Mother or maybe even A Momentary Lapse of Reason (though I love that one as well).
@tiagoids We must remember that experimental music throws up the bad with the good. As long as there is genius somewhere on the album, it makes it worthwhile :)
Where can I find an audio version of this?..I bought the 'Live In Gdansk' boxset..it's not on that..It can only be bought on iTunes if you buy the whole album, which I'm not gonna do cos I've already got it!..I feel like David Gilmour has ripped me off....Great song, I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me where to get it...
Not surprisingly.. it was easily Floyd's weakest album (Obscured by Clouds) . Mundane, middle of the road fluff, with the exception of this one and Burning Bridges.
You are wrong. Obscured By Clouds is one of my favorites. Mudman, Stay, Burning Bridges, Childhood's End, Absolutely Curtains, Wots...Uh, The Deal, The Gold It's In The.... , are all great songs.
We didn't ask, nor do we care if it's your favorite album. Bottom line is, poll 100 Floyd fans to ask of their least favorite album and this one would win.
@123torrent Yeah well im not or ur not most of the band just because they didnt think it was their greatest work doesnt mean its true and that u have to think the same. So stop ur whining and accept that we like the album
