  • Turn on the beta captions around 7:00, and LOL... "switch around here... viagra in addition to that..." XD I'd drop dead laughing if you actually found viagra in the game... then again, I suppose with all the womanizing Edgar's doing, he could use the help. ;P

  • Im love this game and your voice is really funny and.....well....goofy? XD

  • but the darkness status ailment gives you cool glasses! :D

  • I never knew about the Equip - Press Left command, either! Handy! :)

  • i wan expecting this and crono triger to be like 5,000 wii points on the VC :P anyway great games ^_^

  • he'd slit his moma's throat for a nickel!

  • son of a submariner lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "party memebers" lol.

  • Da googles, vey do nossing!

  • HCB! thanks. now (I'm doing New game plus on IV) whenever Edward does the 'Hide' ability, I go YOINK!

  • Shadow the Ninja > Shadow the Hedgehog

  • @LinkMarioSamus The funny thing is, he was designed by Tetsuya Nomura, who apparently all JRPG fans are required by law to despise.

  • @MigeulP Well I sure couldn't tell.

I "plan" on playing through both Final Fantasy VII and Xenogears (as well as Metal Gear Solid) for the first time within the next few months, so I'll see about this Nomura thing.

  • @LinkMarioSamus As far as I could tell Nomura's designs aren't really that bad in FF VII. A bit quirky, but not to the point where I had to throw up my hands and go "That's it! I can't take any of this seriously anymore!" But seeing some of the new characters in the Expanded Universe stuff (Like, for example, Dirge of Cerberus) I just had to facepalm and go "So this is why everyone hates him."

  • Which version should I get, PS1 version, or GBA?

  • @silvertigrex Virtual Console on Wii. If you can't get that version, get the GBA version.

  • @silvertigrex The PSX version is much closer to the original version that the remastered GBA version. The GBA version also has problems with lag and such

  • no it explodes

  • i love ninjas but i find edge from IV better than shadow from VI

  • I wish I had list of items I should and should not get.

  • "But I DO NOT WANT IT" is going to be my new catchphrase.

  • Wow Kefka there are kids playing this game "Son of a subamariner" Damn it Kefka

  • Well I am ninja! He is ninja!

    She is ninja too!

I am ninja! We are ninja!

And I believe that you are ninja too!

  • @2:22 how do you get in that door? i cant remember

  • @jr2nd Later in the game you use the turtle to jump across to follow somebody.

  • @jr2nd i meant before that part as someone told me you could go in before this :/

  • The dash ability in the GBA one stacks with the sprint shoes. It's insanely fast.

  • They changed peoples names in the PS1 version they changed the text somewhat too. They also made the item names longer and Edgar starts with more items in the III version

  • HCBailey, you're a pretty cool guy. I loved you LP of Final Fantasy 8. Question for you, What program did you use to record this? I have a ps3 and I plan to make an LP series of my own. Could you use whatever program you did on the ps3? Curious, I noticed over people do it and I'm using my ps3 to watch this and to type this to you.

  • 6:19 You'd think by this point I'd realize that I wasn't supposed to get that treasure, but being the stupid viewer I am, I got it before I realized I wasn't supposed to. >:|

  • 10:07 BED INTRUDER!

  • In the Japanese version, when Terra uses magic and Edgar freaks out, Locke says something like "Yeah, she has this amazing innate ability..." And then Edgar says "That was magic!" and Locke freaks out too.

So Locke is just really, really dense.

  • Ninjas in RPG's are always cool

  • wait he said he was going east to get to southern figaro......

  • why buy more than 1 of those status aliement relics? can't you use 1 to heal all four memEbers?

Also I believe the tunnels are all lit because they have been mapped out by civilization and probably are used for travel on a regular basis.

  • May I live in Edgar the house? Best security ever probably.

  • Lol at 9:30. it says "party memebers" instead of "party members" This game has lots of typos.

  • @MonsterDany Were the typos fixed in the PS1 version?

  • @kylecliffe probably, I know that in the gba version they were.

  • Played through the game a dozen times and I never knew you could do that with equip.. now I feel silly.

  • 10:02 LOL!!! just crawls in bed next to him!

& he does'n even care! AH! I LOVE THIS GAME!!!

"Hey, how'z it going?" oh lawlz

  • does it just say fenix down on the emulator? or on the actual snes game aswell?

  • Why is it, that in FFV they got darkness right, But here, they screwed up again? Epic fail of the developers for still not getting it right in the series freaking 6th game. XD

  • I don't have the mithril pike with me, what should I do??

  • @000andabel Don't worry about it. Although I equipped it, I never used it. :)

  • @HCBailly well thanks, I'm pretty sure that this let's play will be very useful to me, since I finally got the ROM after a long search.

anyways keep up the good work and let you know I always watch your LP's...

  • "He'd slit his mama's throat for a nickel." Oh, Ted... You are one funny man.

  • They didn't fix darkness in the SNES version, but the goggles are still useful. You can equip them and then take them off to remove darkness status element. Although it does nothing to affect you (because of the bug) its still annoying to see that shade of black around your eyes xD

  • well in gba

  • They fixed BLIND????

    i didnt notice that

  • DAMN IT I LOVE THIS GAME!

  • wait a minute FENIX DOWN? umm that would be a huge bloody typo

  • @adadd567 yeah thats actually how they spelled it in the old games

  • @adadd567 They couldn't fit Phoenix Down so they had to shorten it... I think.

  • @adadd567 Not necessarily. A few words are from other languages. The name Edgar is written the same in both spanish and english. As for "fenix", that is actually how you write "phoenix" in spanish. Different games toy with different languages sometimes.

  • @adadd567 probably the character limit so they decided to sound stupid

  • @adadd567

Not exactly a typo. Because the game was made for japanese items names and such have less room for letters since they aren't needed in japanese. When it was translated Woolsey only had so much room for characters to put in. Japanese names are rarely ever more then 4 characters since each character is basically a syllable.

  • again with the chest leaving!!!? Damn! im waiting for you to catch me up so i know what chests to leave lol im in the mountains where you meet sabin and im by a chest waiting for you to get to it lol

  • Okay.. who the hell lets a little kid in a bar? xD. Ah Shadow's theme is pure win

  • Comment removed

  • 9:31

    memebers?

  • darkness bugged: reminiscient of Final Fantasy.

  • I'm going to LP this game, so what I've been doing was is watch your LP on it while I'm playing through the game myself (ahead of course). And I got to say, there's a lot of treasure that I didn't know were in South Figaro. Oh well! Hopefully, I'll remember to NOT get them. :P

1500 gil to be given the option to run... SOLD!

  • I never knew about the Equipment display trick! Is that in the manual?

Shadow's Theme, one of the best character themes to this day, though it's funny they gave a Spaghetti Western theme to a Ninja, heh.

  • I love Shadow's theme!

  • @SchlossRitter kinda like kill bill

  • @Ignore14

You know, I recently mentioned on a Kill Bill review video how that song reminded me of Shadow's Theme, heh.

  • @SchlossRitter I'm guessing that's the one where she is having her sword made? That theme is like, the perfect combination of ninja/spaghetti western,it fits perfectly with the movie.

  • i always wondered whats with the turtle

  • You find out much later.

  • The Goggles, they do nothing

  • I'm going through the advance version once more and hate that they changed that line to "Son of a sandworm!" If you're gonna port a classic at least keep the most memorable lines intact as they originally were!

  • For some reason, I've seen people misquote the line as "son of a submarine" a lot, it amuses me XD

Anyhow, sandworms would fit in a lot more seeing as Figaro castle is in the middle of a continent spanning desert... Granted, they didn't have underland travelling castles on Arrakis, but still... XD

  • Yay Shadow! He may be the coolest video game character ever! At the very least, he's the coolest Final Fantasy Character ever.

  • @maniamaster2 he was the reason why I named my character on Adventurequest Shadow. With the asassin class it's even cooler.

  • Hahaha, I love finding typos in Woolsey's translations.

    Memebers.

    Seriously.

  • What keys did you press when you wanted to save and load really fast on 6:12

  • Save State = Shift + F1 - 9 (I think) Load State = F1 - 9 (I think)

When I say "I Think" I mean the F keys I dunno what number it goes it.

  • The PS1 version also has a dash button. Dashing with the Sprint Shoes equipped makes your character damn near uncontrollable... ^_^'

  • Edgar may be a randy bastard, but he's got more in his brain than just sex. Son of a bitch knows that if you want somethin' done right, you gots to do it yourself.

That, and you tend to pick up more chicks when you venture out of the desert every now and again, y'know? =P

  • Jewel ring DOES protect against petrify. The GBA and PS1 versions messed it up by just putting "dark".

  • Shadows music kind of reminds me of Wild Arms 3....

  • Shadow is my favorite Final Fantasy character. Well, one of two anyways. And lol at the idiot who ran into the wall.

  • The Goggles - They Do Nothing

  • If you equip the goggles while you have the "dark" status on your character, it will take the dark status off. Then, change your equipment back and you'll be good to go!

Its pretty much that way for most of the status effects.

  • Lmao.

"He'd split his mama's throat for a nickle!"

  • im not sure if you know this but if you train terra at the start to say lv8-10 locke and edgar will have a higher lv as well when you meet them, so your enemies are even easier

  • Eh.. This Final Fantasy is pretty easy in comparison with the earlier ones. (Although it's the BEST Final Fantasy in the series.. FFVII fanboys.. Go away! ^_^)

So it isn't necissary to really grind a ton, just make sure you fight all random encounters you see. (As long as it's worth it...)

  • indeed, ive got like an ocd type of aspect in FF series which wont permit to leave a certain area if im not at a level i deem i should be the only series i thought that didnt matter was ff8, just to prove a friend that i could do it i trained to lv 100 before dollet mission took me 2 days another example is i get all of clouds limits (except 4) and get him to lv 20 before entering shinra building where you save aerith and evil forest lv 10 on ff9

i find it sad that i cant just not do it

  • I know what you mean. I'm OCD in an opposite direction.

I won't go into an area unless I'm underleveled for it... (Go for a no EXP run on FFVI.. It's.. interesting.

  • well i can imagine the fight being more entertaining being lower level the only FF game i cant do my thing in is XI the leveling on there is bs to the max unless its change again

  • Yeah.. but it's more challenging eh?

Better than some games where you just fly through it, get to level 100 before the first boss and ect.

  • true

  • @OrderofMertuary Tried that on the gba version. Got to near the end of the game then the file got corrupted. The opera house rafters part is stupidly hard in a low level run.

  • It's better to level as little as possible until you have espers that give you +2 to magic power or vigor upon leveling. Wait until after the magitek research facility, buy Zoneseek at the auction house, then go nuts.

  • not sure if anyone already said this or you learned for yourself but i think i saw edgar say that there was a cave in south figaro that would lead to him or something of the sorts

  • when i talked to the person in the bed i was like you're not even a little disturbed that a strange man just got into your bed and started talking to you? and then you talk about the empire? WTF

  • equip then press left... I DIDN'T KNOW THAT!! man, this vid is educational! XD

  • I love that. Crawls in bed with some random chick "Hey, how's it goin'?"

  • items will be different if you don't pick them up right away? damn! i didn't know that. . .

  • Will this trick with the dungeon chests work on the PlayStation release of this game??? Thanks

  • The PS version and the SNES version are pretty much the same thing. A couple of differences here and there but nothing major. So yeah, it'll still work.

  • Thanks alot now I can use this method to get my new game running :D

  • One thing about this game that's great is when you are about to equip a new weapon or armor, it shows you if it's stronger or weaker, and shows how it affects your stats. Unlike FF4. That was one of my dislikes with part four. Still an awesome game though.

  • edgar is a HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  • aren't the playstation versions of the old final fantasy games just the japanese versions with english text

  • Yes, but the translations are pretty bad, (FFVI is this translation with Final Fantasy VI as the title instead of III, also there's a bonus mode.)

  • what if you went through the battle without magic?

  • The dialogue isnt triggered by the boss, but by having edgar and locke in your party and casting magic with terra. So I think you could be at the final boss in that setup and have that dialogue XD

  • lol that should be done! =)

  • The ferry ride in Chrono Trigger was available from start! :O

  • "Ask a Ninja" reference?

  • 2:18 i LOVE the music here <3

  • Shadow is awesome cos he is a ninja and everyone knows ninjas are awesome.

The only thing better than a ninja is Chuck Norris.

  • the only thing better than chuck norris is POPO >:D

    (teamfourstar FTW)

  • Really?

Look at Ken Ogawa in Ninja Blade for 360

  • So, the Darkness ailment is a bug? Huh, that's dumb.

Yeah, Shadow! He's one of favorite characters in this game, next to Sabin and Cyan!

  • Slit his MAMA'S THROAT for a NICKEL.

    How wude! D:>

  • what about Sabin? isn't he pretty much the same???

  • That music always gives me goose bumps.

Shadow has one of the best themes in video game history!

  • Shadow is my favorite character in the FF series. You just can't compete with a ninja and his dog no matter how big your sword is :P

  • "He owes allegiance to no one, and will do anything for money. He comes and goes like the wind...", along with Shadow's Theme is pure epicness. I remember the first time I ever played this game, my mind was blown at that moment.

  • Your videos inspired me to start a file on this tonight, and so I did. What a classic, and fun, game!

  • Oh dang, I've played this game at LEAST 5 times on my snes and never knew about that equip commad !

  • 4:06

    DO NOT WANT

  • Ninja's FTW

  • Shadow is friggin' awesome. That is all!

  • The playstation version also had auto-run except during the part in beginning where you're in the mech

  • Ahh Shadow's theme=Pure Badass ^___^

  • I love the world view on a chocobo. it really is beautiful, and the relic system is a great system, IMO. i now realize the origin of materia! learn something new every day lol.

  • Close, the origin of materia is in this game, but it's not relics...

  • 0:30 I thought he was going to show her his Fire Rod.

  • i never knew that that chest had something better in it l8er on in the game, i just could not be bothered to open it .

it has a sword if im not mistaken.

  • Ummm...I would stay away too...you never know when Sonic might show up and then Sonic and Shadow will start fighting...and if they had the Chaos Emeralds...well that would be devistating...Super Sonic and Hyper Shadow, the ultimate battle...

WHAT...THIS ISN'T SONIC THE HEDGEHOG...What the heck am I thinking about?

Seriously, Shadow is my favorite character in this game...sorry but I just have a thing for ninjas...I've seen too many ninja shows...TMNT, Naruto, etc...

  • In my opinion, Edgar is broken for the ENTIRE game, thanks to a particular "cutting" tool of his that he gets later on.

  • "'Treasure''...lol damn funny

  • Shadow, the most badass mofo in this game.

  • in FF2 you can get on the ship to poft rite away

  • Dear Square-Enix,

Please make the final boss of Final Fantasy 13 so damn hard, it makes grown men around the world cry.

    That is all

  • For fun, ride a chocobo with a temporary character in the lead.

  • Figured I'd add something. While Shadow is a Ninja in terms of FF series continuity, he's actually an "assassin" in this game.

Oh, and Dirty Harry had kinda groovy, jazzy music. You were thinking of Eastwood's Man With No Name movies.

  • Darkness is bugged completely? Huh... that's kind of annoying. Not as bad as the magic defense bug in FFVII-- that's seriously terrible. Or that Ruby Weapon was weak to Paralyze. Still, that's a sizable bug for sure.

And seriously, what's up with making items get better later on... but not giving you any hints about it? I think about 1% of gamers would find that without a walkthrough. I know I didn't.

  • I bet you that guy was surprized when you hopped in his bed XD.

Man: Wtf? I have a do not disturb sign on the door!

  • AH NEENYA LEGIND!

I´m not a fan of Shadow as I am of Edge to tell the truth...

I wouldn´t classify that at 9:18 as a typo, more like a terrible mistake such as the darkness status; a typo is more like the one at 9:32 where it says "memebers". Thanks for the info BTW.

  • Sprint shoes. Best item ever? close to it!

  • Tintinabar and Economizer are the best relics.

  • Are you just joking about the Tintinabar or are you thinking of something else? Tintinabar restores your HP as you walk, which is relatively negligible in this game.

  • i dont know why, but for some reason i think he means merit award or marvel shoes

  • Nope, serious about them. Economizer for obvious reasons (not needing to use Ethers, Elixirs, etc) and the Tintinabar because at that point in the game, HP can be hard to come by and you can just fill up your whole party by walking back and forth and not using items, magic, etc

  • in this version yea. It's awesome that you dont need them in the GBA version freeing someone up for another relic

  • Just curious - have you played the GBA version?

You don't NEED them in any version. Dashoes/Sprint Shoes DO make you walk faster even in the GBA version. It works like this: with no relic, the B button (or auto-dash) will make you walk SLIGHTLY faster, but the relic will make you actually walk reasonably quickly. I prefer to have it equipped even on the GBA version.

  • ...i wouldnt comment on the GBA version if i never played it. ya you dont NEED anything in this game, but if you want to spend hours walking through dungeons and caves at a slow pace then it's your own choice, but in the GBA version dashing is fast enough without sprint shoes. sprint shoes plus dash is almost over-kill.

but thanks for an explanation that i already knew?

  • When I first heard that his name was Banon, I immediately thought of Race Banon from Johnny Quest.

  • Mr. HC

    Are you EVER playing Xenogears?

  • HCBaily could you please link me to the PS1 Emulator you use and a good Chrono Cross rom?

  • Lol. You got in bed with a guy and said hey hows it going? XD

  • how many chests will have something better later?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • Alot

  • after south figaro i dont think any

  • i remember playing a translation instead of saying you son of a submeriner or something like that is said you son of a bitc+ correct me if i am wrong i know it wasnt on an emulator at least i dont think it was

  • I was told Tools command actually take up a minor amount of money each time you use it, but the money you gain in battle usually covers the amount and more.

And I made a combo with True Knight while I didn't have many good relics. When you get the "counter" relic, combine the two and you get an extra attack while saving someone. Course if one is wise with healing, this could prove useless, but it's there. :P

  • 10:02 made me laugh quite a bit :P

  • What did I say there? I don't get my own joke, apparently, though I like to know what works for my viewers.

  • I think he means the fact that you walked into someones bed while they were sleeping lol

  • Oh. That totally didn't occur to me. The second bed might as well have not been there as far as I was thinking. Wow.

  • It was the "Hey, hows it goin" part :P Dunno it made me laugh cause it was random haha.

  • "hey hows it going"

man i love it when you say that hah :D

  • Shadow doesn't like people talking to his dog.

  • He also doesn't like it when his dog talks to people.

    It's just too akward.

  • "But I do not want that." Geez...Locke's one picky TREASURE HUNTER...

  • LOL! the little girl is in the pub!
