Germans treated American and British POW's with respect. it wasnt the case in the EAST. hitler ordered that Soviet POWs should starve to death or shot. he said Russians are not valuable they are obstacles to his conquest in the East. Which is why Soviet soldiers treated German POWs harshly.. you have to use logic next time!

When both the Soviets and the Germans invaded Poland in 1939 Nazi Germany sent the Polish into concentration camps while the Soviets used that opportunity to send anyone of importance (politicians, bankers, scientists etc.) back into Russia for mass executions so that nobody would know (Katyn massacre). It's tough to say which was the lesser of the two evils.

@TheRavnstrup But to answer your question. 8.7 million (rounded down 500,000ish) people have died in U.S. related wars since WW2. that number counts civilians and military personnel on both sides (not just the U.S.) and Korea and Vietnam came out close to 8.6 million combined (2.5 million south Korean civilians caught in the crossfire).
Nazi Germany killed 6 million on the Eastern Front alone, not to mention the 6 million killed in the holocaust.

@rod3067 Hitler never captured a trench by himself, or with anyone else. He was a message runner, not an assault trooper. Goering actually commanded the Red Baron's squadron after the Baron's death.

@rod3067 Goering was one of Germany's great flying aces of the first world war, winner of the "Pour le Merite", or Blue Max- the highest award for heroism in battle in Imperial Germany. Of course, Hitler was also a war hero, winner of Iron Crosses first and second class. Message running was a very dangerous job, requiring great courage. Ironically, his commanding officer, who recommended him for the awards, was a Jew. I hate Nazis, but have to give credit where it is due.
