The animals in this case were taken from shelters. PETA promised them that they would find homes for them, and they killed them the minute the animals were put into the van. All of the 60-70 animals that were found dead and dumped in dumpsters were all considered to be "adoptable". The shelters thought PETA was trying to help out and lessen their burden. So with these facts, how was what they did ethical? These were not scarred animals, these were not abused animals. So why?
A world without pets would be a lonely world. I have been living without a dog for a few months now, and I'm miserable. I get along better with animals then I do humans. PETA is just... unrealistic, cruel, and hypocritical.
& we created the cats or dogs we see now for selfish reasons; beauty or hunting for us. But since I LOVE ANIMALS, i agree and disagree with PETA, agree because they help spread the word about animal cruelty, disagree since they could try better at rehoming animals.

The only time i would kill an animal is if it couldnt live happily. if you ran across an animal that had been mauled by coyotes and was going to starve or bleed out, wouldnt you put it out of its misery? but what PETA is doing is killing perfectly healthy animals that are happy and want to live.
Since they think domestic cats and dogs are so pathetic and should be extinct it is no surprise they do their part by killing the vast majority of animals they take in. . Of course why would they even bother to try to find them homes when they think they should not even be in homes ? This organization has saved a countless number of animals, weather you choose to recognize that fact or not. The problem with PETA is that they're for animal rights. Animal rights means giving animals the same rights that humans get. Animals have a lower intelligence than humans and are therefore a lesser species. That doesn't mean I advocate killing them for no reason, but I certainly wouldn't call them equal to any human being on this Earth. I support animal welfare which means taking care of animals and not harming them for pointless reasons. PETA doesn't care about that, which is why they suck.

The problem with PETA is that they're for animal rights. Animal rights means giving animals the same rights that humans get. Animals have a lower intelligence than humans and are therefore a lesser species. That doesn't mean I advocate killing them for no reason, but I certainly wouldn't call them equal to any human being on this Earth. I support animal welfare which means taking care of animals and not harming them for pointless reasons. PETA doesn't care about that, which is why they suck.

well, for starters Peta could spend the 30 million they take in annually on actually saving, housing, caring for, and adopting out animals they allegedly "rescue", instead of routinely killing 95% of the animals they "save" simply because its cheaper than caring for them.
For instance last year they 2124 of the 2216 animals they "saved" were killed. A measly 7 animals were found homes.
There is nothing Peta stooge can say to convince sane people that these dead pets weren't savable.

take a perscription for said condition, it will go away, IF PETA gets their way, that is something i cannot let happen. Their public records, as Peta is non profit, allegedly. Every single dime that Peta has donated to terror cults like the Alf, and penny they have used to defend firebombing arsonist in court are in documents that are made public record, accessible to anyone anywhere. Peta's tax records, purchases, and donations are all made public knowledge, per law.

Well the sad thing is, is that nobody adopts the dogs (or cats etc) and it is too expensive to house/feed the animals so they put them down.
You can thank people who don't neuter their dogs/cats and breeders. Hundreds of thousands of dogs are put down each year, and breeders continue to breed animals just so they can make money.
It's a sick and disgusting cycle, and should be stopped.

They seem to think that the word "rescue" means "kill."
Puppies, kittens... There are puppies and kittens with no mark on them, or sign of malnourishment or disease in those pics.
Cute ones. Animals that would have a very high likelihood of being adopted anywhere else. I think that PETA's policy can be inferred from Newkirk's statements.

I agree completely that PETA could of done better, but comments like "peta should die" are a bit extreme. PETAs done a lot for the animal rights movement, which is great, and that have also done other not-so-honorable stuff, such as this.

I don't buy the animals=humans argument but believe that even livestock deserve decent standards of treatment and a humane death.
funding people who blow things up and burn things down is bad enough, but they seem to have sacrificed even their own ideals.

Hmm, we have a difference of opinion here. I fully support direct action, and groups like the Animal Liberation Front (ALF).
I support direct action that takes place where animal abuse occurs, and not random building, just for the media attention.
I wouldn't be surprised if the people who are only aware of groups like the ALF because of news reports/the media think they randomly/indiscriminately vandalise and burn down buildings, for the media attention.
Direct action can be very effective.

It's so well directed and focused.
If a passer-by is exposed to "direct action" by being in the wrong place at the wrong time, they could die.
Peaceful demonstration also stands up better as a test of credibility.
If a passer-by is exposed to a peaceful demonstration, they take away with them that you practice that which you advocate. Hard for a sit-in or picket line to cause a death.
