In 1989 my son and I got kicked out of there. My offense was... "In the wilderness without a permit."I couldn't believe it when the ranger asked for my drivers license. We were 20 miles from the nearest road.I framed the ticket and it still hangs on my wall to remind me of what a wonderful free country we live in. Daniel Boone would have been so proud.
Storm? You didn't grow up in snow country did you? get a better footprint, crack the flaps on your tent and wear synthetics. Even if you're setting up in a storm you can't get snow inside the tent. When a storm comes through in the middle of the night there aint much you can do about it. Get some sleep so that you are fit to handle the worst tomorrow. Excessive condensation, seepage and snow in the tent will make you a wet miserable mess. No sleep makes anyone a mess. Happy Trails!
Why would you guys start of the hike when it is snowing and not wear a waterproof pants? Never let yourself get wet for that will make the rest of your trip a misery. Always expect that the weather will get worse and dress accordingly.
@cowplop4587 Get out there and do it. Make your own video, I'd like to see it. :) Cant say something unless you've done it yourself. (At least that's my philosophy...)
Nice trip. Kudos for not letting a little snow from keeping you from venturing out. Looks like the Wrights Lake trailhead and you camped at the lower Twin Lake about 2.5 miles up the trail. Probably not the weather you would have preferred but memorable for sure. At least you probably had this usually crowded destination all to yourselves. Snow is better than rain

I guess the two guys sitting on the ground are not familiar with the concept of heat loss through conduction. No wonder they were cold.
