This song brings back sweet memories of my childhood in New York in the early 70s. Even with the urban problems, it was a much simpler, more enjoyable time to be a kid.
@Greymans -that is my personal thought and feeling. I said that because back then we had no crack cocaine, my relatives often left their doors unlocked, most kids in America had TWO parents, illegal immigration was not a problem, AIDS was unheard of, in many places kids could hang out at night without worrying about being targeted for crime. There was crime and problems but nothing like today's. Yes, I stand firm: It was a very enjoyable time to be a kid.
I'm 14 and I absolutely love oldies like this song. I practically grew up listening to this and other great songs. Thank god my parents have good taste in music :)
Summer Breeze was the second song, after Blowin' in the Wind, that I learned how to play on the guitar. I can actually feel and smell the 70's when I hear this song, Get Closer, and We May Never Pass This Way Again... Now... I feel compelled to break out the Yamaha...
Thanks for posting this wonderful song!!!. There´s another great S&C song called "Magnolia Moon". I´ve tried to get it on YT but no joy :( Cheers. Oscar from Argentina.

Super Great Memory from May 1975. This was the theme song of my Senior year Prom. I thought I was bad and looking good. What fun days with songs like this, 8 track tapes, halter tops, bell bottoms, long hair, 68 Camaro, high school dances, Friday night football, class rings, and going steady. I WOULD LOVE TO GO BACK AND DID IT AGAIN. What about you?
This timeless song is one of my favourites because it transports me back to those endless carefree summer days of my youth back in the 70s....the best decade ever!! ~sigh~
This song is one of the those songs that make me feel and remember a whole myriad of emotions and memories. I was born in 1988, but grewup listening to 1050CHUM AM (The biggest oldests station in Toronto for many, many, many years). This song is and will always be one of my favourites.
this reminds me of when i was a little boy and i used to play outside and it was a cool summer day memories love blowin through the jasmine in my mind.........
Shit, guess I am too young, only 41, this song always makes me think of home, when I was at the swimming pool (was old enough to be there by myself, around 6) They always played this song. Still, smoking a blunt sounds like fun.
i wish my generation would wake up. when i hear stories from back in the day, i feel more connected with the energy of the 60s and 70s than of the superficial bullshit of today. for christ's sake a plant is illegal but any dumb muthaf-ucka can own a gun.
@lemontaster0 It's illegal because people abuse it, which is the reason why people get it illegally. Guns have gun laws and regulations because people abuse them, which is the reason why people get them illegally.
@lemontaster0 You're an ass. The problem isn't the drug, its the idiots who use it irresponsibly and go driving through school areas and on the highway, go to work and use heavy machinery, drive your kids home, fly a plane, etc. The average person is a moron. Early this month, some idiot driver left a kid in a school bus for hours. Probably high as a kite. People shouldn't even be allowed to have kids without passing an exam in this country, because of how fucking stupid everyone is.
Those were the days my friend, I thought they would never end. we'd sing and dance forever and a day. We'd live the life we choose, we'd fight and never lose those were the days oh yes those were the days.
