  • What prop are you using and if adjustable, what pitch?

  • This video I think was a WARP drive 3 blade 68 inch wide tip . Might have been a GSC 68" - they both work close to the same.

  • Always lookin for more hp. Just your average gearhead!!! Just seems like you could get alot more hp with a tuned expansion chamber over the small pipe the stocker has. And it shouldnt effect relaibility. It actually would make it alot more efficient. What do you think?

  • I agree that you can be more HP and more efficient running engine with a "properly tuned pipe" And that goes with reliability will be better too to a certain point. The problem is that 2 strokes get a bad rap from the idiots that cannot figure out how to run this simple engine. Rotax mufflers are quite fine and they just allow the engine to go rich over 6500 rpm or so and that caps the power.

    Part 2 in next post

  • Part 2

The Kitfox 582 pipes were modified by Denney and Skystar and they chopped about 5 to 8 HP from the 65 HP stock pipe.

The reason they did that was to fit the pipe inside the cowl. I have made tuned pipes on Kitfox and they are a real challenge to fit.

  • Are there any performance mods for the 582, such as rotary valves or tuned expansion chambers? I had a 98 Ski-doo sled that had a Rotax 583 and had an aftermarket rotary valve and pipe on it and it made 15 additional hp. Just wondering if there is such for a 582 aircraft motor.

  • You can get a bit more HP outta 582 but they are restricted to port size so without porting -- you will not get as much as a 583 but 582 works well.

    Why would you want more?

  • Whats the TBO on the 582 engine?

  • 300 + hours is where Rotax reco's. This one has over 450 hours on it in last 22 months and not been apart yet

  • What does it cruise at?...thanks

  • 90 to 93

  • Dang!

  • very cool take off, this kitfox machine is a clockwork toy if you know how to use it, it looks like you've been practicing

  • I think a 8 inch longer landing gear would get it off a bit quicker too

Kitfox 582 on Bushwheels taking off in 3 seconds winds about 5 knots . Ruwway is 550 feet long and 150 to 200 feet AGL at end of 550' . Trees are 75 ' at end and Kitfox clears them by a easy 75'++

  • THx -- it works pretty well for a heavy Kitfox at 550 lbs plus

a lite weight early model under 400 lbs would take off in half of that. :)

  • Cool Video! Man, that 582 makes that kitfox just crank!!
