Hi Kazzart, I didn't think I was going to hear from you. I just finished orchestrating Alex Chudnovsky's "Russian Romance." Turned out good; I just put it up on youtube a few weeks ago. That is a really nice theme, but I don't know if I can duplicate accurately it on my composing software without having the exact notes. How about getting it on paper and letting me look it over.

ii V I progression is the most common progression in jazz utilizing seventh chords eg for ii in C majot(D,F,A,C) and the progression has a major 7th chord(I), minor/major 7th chord(ii) and dominant 7th chord(V) giving it a unique color that is typical of jazz pieces. Using these chords as a foundation, you can improvise many melodies over it. I am not too much of a jazz player so I hope this helps.

Hmm... Not bad. =) But for me, there was not much of a melody in the composition. What I mean is that no melody was really emphasized. Your right hand was, for me, just playing chords with a passing notes. I'd be great for accompanying another instrument or singing, but if it is just a solo instrumental, I suggest you add a more pronounced melody to it, or it'd be quite dull. It's the melody that people hear and remember.

i loved it. i try to write my own piano music because i enjoy doing that so much, but my taste of music is more a variety, i suggest going up the scale to make a focal point in the piece. Don't exactly change the notes but just move up scale. When i do that the notes seem to just come to me and tht is ussually the most entertaining and interesting part.
