Best practice is to leave the default file size of 4 GB. Changing the file size to 100 GB causes 100 GB files to be created. When restoring, it will have to read 100 GB files into memory to access the data to be restored.

Why would you set the Overwrite to 2 days and the append to 5? Your jobs will overwrite every two days. The concept of appending only applies to sequential access media not random access hard drives. Set your append period as low as it can go which is 1 hour and then use overwrite on all jobs. Appending to disk causes fragmentation. The two day overwrite protection period in this example would allow for two full nightly backups to be kept at all times with the oldest being overwritten.
