the lightning has the same 5.4 motor from a normal F150 lariat, only difference is the compression ratio is 8:5:1 and has a Eaton supercharger. a stock 5.4 makes 260hp and 350tq add a supercharger and you get 380hp and 450tq. its that simple you are only gaining about 70-75% percent more power with the help of the eaton, the lightning has a better induction and exhaust system aswell that makes about another 10% everything else comes from better fuel lines and ignition.....hope that helped

Lowering compression actually requires a nice amount of engine work FYI also L have heavy duty tranny, major suspension work, big ass diff, stiffer chassis! Also the only reason your "king ranch is 450hp" because thats a 3 valve unlike 2 valve L. Trust me race a 02-03 HD and it will leave you in the dust.

tusobreviviente, the 99-04 modular family, being 4.6 and 5.4 were PI or performance improved. The 99 Lightning had a 5.4 PI SOHC short block. The 99-04 Mustang GT had a 4.6 PI SOHC short block. The 5.4 deck height is taller than the 4.6. So a 5.4 intake manifold wont fit on a 4.6. Hope that helps.
