  • You can make a biodiesel from tallow but I like the Fat burning Merc the best:-))) Burn it straight, then you don't need the hazardous methanol and caustic soda.

  • I think hybrids are the way to go on long cross country trips.

    OR CNG maybe!

  • Awesome footage. I got some good information on this from fasteconomicalcars (.) com

  • I have been running my 82 rabbit on 50% heating oil and 50% waste engine oil. The waste engine oil should be filtered with a 10 micron filter. Been running it for 4 years now. It is an alternative for those that don"t want to process Bio diesel. A diesel can run just about anything that is made of oil.

  • todd feinberg, rush limbaugh, jerry doyle and micheal savage will accuse you of hurting the economy,

  • 50mpg from a hybrid is rubbish - i get 50+mpg from a turbo diesel car in the town and 72mpg on the motorway at 70mph. Biodiesel will eat through rubber seals and not provide enough lubrication to the pumps and injectors. Never use vege oil unless filtered and the acidity is adjusted, it kills your car!

  • @urbex2007 veg oil kills your car.... if your an idiot about it. Any well filtered system will work, assuming it's not too cold. A well heated system is even better as it burns more fully, and lubricates injectors much better. The only thing at that point threatening your engine is carbon build up on the cylinder walls which will ruin rings. Go wide open throttle once in a while to avoid build up, and then every fifteen thousand or so miles (or once a year), do a diesel purge to clean it out.

  • @urbex2007 incorrect. bio-diesel has higher lubricity the higher the biodiesel blend used. Most post 1993 diesel cars use synthetic rubber such as Viton so very little to be concerned about there. The Toyota Prius gets 60mpg and there are electric conversion kits to make it into an electric vehicle!

  • Biodiesel can be made from used vegetable oil so they come from the same place really. You just need to make some conversions to the vegetable oil before running it in a diesel car.

  • Used vegetable oil is better than biodiesel because biodiesel needs to be grown as a crop which uses up valuable agricultural land and costs more to produce. Used vegetable oil is a waste product that would otherwise be thrown away.

  • Exactly. Friend of mine makes his rounds to the local restauranrs for his free fuel. Takes it home, does a little filtering and he's ready to go.

  • So all PD engines are ok,I got a 1.4??

  • When people wake up, they will recognize the original bio diesel fuel= HEMP!

  • if its legalized in us but rumer is that pot is mexico cash crop. wich explains why us dont legalize and tax like cigaretts which kills more people than all illicet drugs plus prescription drugs car wrecks all wars and alcohol and suicides put together. so forget about legl hemp even though it was grown by farmers for hemp rope used to more ships till nylon rope was invented now sailers get cut in half when a nylon rope breaks from the salt water causes it to rot inside out hemp dont rot.

  • I will never give up the fight to legalize hemp. There would be no real America with out hemp. In fact, only the native American Indians would be here with out hemp. In fact, there would be no recorded history with out hemp. Hemp is no Marijuana, this fact which is not well known by most people, is the problem. People are ignorant in America, I don't think you should wave an American Flag unless you know this nations history, the true history, of which HEMP not cannabis, was an integral part.

  • i will like to have specific modelled engines for biodiesel cars for my area.

  • someone's trash is ones's treasure.

  • I would like to buy a car that runs on biodiesel fuel. 50 miles per gallon? You can't go wrong-and especially with the gas prices here in New York.

  • easy to convert I have been running cars for years here in the uk with waste veg oil .Just make sure the car has a BOSCH injector pump NOt a LUCAS/CAV

  • My other concern would be whether or not a biodiesel car can run in cold weather since vegetable oil freezes like jelly. I wonder if antifreeze could be added to avoid that problem?

  • Biodiesel is not straight vegetable oil; it is a mixture of vegetable oil and methanol.

If you listen at 2:35 you will hear that the Biodiesel pump is B20 meaning only 20% of the fuel is Biodiesel and the other 80% is regular diesel fuel.

With an extra fuel tank and conversion you can switch between diesel and vegetable oil once the oil is up to temperature.

  • The Methanol in the Biodiesel is airplane/race car fuel and also found in a bottle of HEAT Dry gas so no; it will not gel

  • Thanks for the info.

  • NOTE: Spilled Biodiesel is NOT Vegetable Oil...

  • true it does freeze thats why the old international harester had a piggy back motor to pre heat every thig befor switching to bio.also a freind mixes bio with reguler deisel

  • Informative.

  • actually the new vw bug with the deisel engine gets 54 mpg at least thats what everyone i have talked to that owns one. in fact theres aclub for bug owners that has contests to see who can get the best milage from a gallen of deisel.the record is get this 186 mpg would love to see that in a hybred .

  • Bring that vehicle to New York City!

  • biodiesel baby

  • hmm buy an imported hybrid to decrease dependence on foreign oil this make no sense at all

  • Americans, such a wast my car will easy do 54MPG combined, on petrol and 60MPG+ on autogas

  • its such an ass pain when you see people write bullshit on grease cars just to keep people dependent on government for transportation and their societal slavery inducing price hyper-inflation. Getting rid of all politcians all togurther would abolish wallstreet and the monetary slave circus as a hole.

  • use hho...fuel on demand or you are wasting your time.

  • That gives me an idea...

  • This is a nice little video. I own a 2006 Jetta TDI with the pump duse (PD) engine, 29,000PSI fuel injection. I have 33,000 miles currently, and most of them are on B50+. I ran B100 in the summer and saw about 38MPG combined. On B50 i've pulled 46MPG before highway. No Diesel engine is incompatible with Biodiesel at any blend, but most companies only warranty 5, 10 and 20% due to the fact that they add a lubricating element to the petrol diesel and they reduce the CO2 but not much else.

  • actually vw used to cover all its models up to 2005 for 100% biodiesel. Most other companies do the old 5-10%.

  • this is the future

  • The one emission that isn't improved with biodiesel is NOx, but the difference is negligible (depending on the study). That being said, NOx needs HCs to become smog, and biodiesel's HCs are waaaaay down. And, much more importantly, all other emissions are way down and it's nearly carbon-neutral, meaning it contributes almost NOTHING to global warming.

  • What's sad is, veggie oil and biodiesel actually make MORE of the gummy pollutants that cause smog, than dino diesel does. Not an opinion--scientific fact. So there's NO benefit to the hardcore environmentalist whacko in using this stuff.

If using an earlier year-model diesel, the only modification truly necessary is a heater and different filter assembly for the tank. As long as the fuel is hot, the suet will stay in the tank, rather than clogging up the fuel line.

  • uhh EPA states that the only emission that goes up on biodiesel is NOX by 2 to 15% depending on what the Biodiesel is made from. Everything else -- smog or Greenhouse -- drops 40 to 72% compared to petrol. You should re-check your facts. Also, smog can be cleaned up using other technologies. By far, Biodiesel is cleaner than Diesel as proven by the EPA and other independent scientific institutions.

  • Biodiesel reduces emissions of carbon monoxide (CO) by approximately 50% and carbon dioxide by 78% on a net lifecycle basis because the carbon in biodiesel emissions is recycled from carbon that was in the atmosphere, rather than the carbon introduced from petroleum that was sequestered in the earth's crust. However, it does produce more NOx emissions than standard diesel fuel. (Sheehan, 1998)

  • 700 miles to a tank in the VW is brilliant!

Good creativity in switching away from oil. Good on those who are willing to try. Some scoff now, but in a couple of decades they'll probably be using alternative fuel themselves. Great video!

  • I make biodiesel and run 100% in both of my Mercedes. Biodiesel needs NO CONVERSION. As you see in the video if you run waste veggie oil you must buy a kit. If you run any percentage of biodiesel then you need no conversion! There is a difference. Biodiesel has been stripped of all fatty acids. It is cleaner than dino-diesel and requires no war. Your fries give me gas and praise the lard!

  • hahhahahhha

  • is the cost of one of these cars really worth it? if it is il think about geting the honda

  • How about newer TDI engines with new piezo fuel injectors? can they run on B40 or B100?

  • they can run on biodiesel, but it needs some tweaking. if straight out of the factory, there are problems with it. most of the VWs in this movies are TDIs, i suppose.

  • I think most of us would run higher blends if we could get our hands on it in a somewhat convenient fashion. That's the whole idea behind biodieselnow(dot)com - to encourage use and the spreading of biodiesel. When that clip was made, there was one place in all of New England where you could buy biodiesel. There are now over 60.

  • I ran a 2002 Golf TDI on Biodiesel B60 in summer and B40 in winter. Where i live ( vancouver, BC ), we can't get B100 yet, but soon it will be approved pump stations said

  • Great video *****

  • when they're at the biodiesel station, i noticed that they're only filling up on b20. that's only 20% biodiesel and the other 80% is petroleum. what a shame.

  • a problem is that that the yield from crops to make oil is tiny. A mass switch to it will create other serious environmental issues.

  • Pure SVO. Get it from the restaurants, filter it, and dump it in. We dont start cutting it with diesel till we are tryin to purge the system for winter storage

  • Pure SVO. Get it from the restaurants, filter it, and dump it in. We dont start cutting it with diesel till we are tryin to purge the system for winter storage

  • Pure SVO? 100% or SVO blended with diesel fuel?

  • oops whole reply didnt go through

We have several vehicles running on SVO. 2 mercedes Benz runnin SVO with no moddifications, my 1986 F-250 run with no modifications, and Our buddy has an '04 F350 7.3l PowerStroke that he runs SVO in with no mods. Just depends on the vehicle.

  • They aren't made to run on straight veg oil (SVO). You need to modify them to run on SVO. But any diesel engine can run biodiesel without any modifications, and any diesel engine can run SVO with modifications.

Shannon, you can get a BIODIESEL emblem at www.biodieselnow.com.

  • @nbyrne Even a "new car" can run on veg.oil. If you fill your tank, - add 5 liters of veg.oil.

I have a Mercedes Benz B 180 CDI 2007 model, and I save 7 US $ dollar in the wintertime for each tank - 57 liters, and I add 20 liters in the summertime, which saves me 24 US $. Why you may ask - the dieselprices in nOrway is now passing 13 Nok - a little more than 2 US $. 50liters of diesel in Norway is now 650 Nok, - about 110 US $ - that is why. And 82% is taxes pr ltr. ThM - Norway

    I save

  • german deisel cars are made to run on straight veg oil.

    why not the rest?

  • Where did you get the "BIO" logo to put infront of your "TDI" logo? I want one for my TDI!" SVO Rocks!

  • you can find them on ebay i run my car on colza from the field vegetable oil im gonna buy some from my local farmer tomorrow i live in france however it is illegal here to use biodiesel tax evasion who cares fuck opec and the gov

  • TOA: I completely agree with you--who cares if the govt. doesn't make any money off veg. oil.
