  • actually my friend told me that he saw such a helicopter when he was on such a crusie

  • That ship could bring that whole section of the bridge down !

  • @tierren That would certainly mess up someone's weekend if that happens...

  • @w7mag Carnival is based out of the Port Of Miami what port did you leave from & is that a special cruise or does Carnival have ships that sail to the far Pacific ?

  • @tierren We left from Dover, UK. I haven't checked Carnival's web site lately as it seems all the cruise lines are constantly changing what ships go where. We had a good time but then again, I just like the on board experience.

  • ill see you sunday splendor

  • @iloveah1 Enjoy the ride!

  • haha oasis of the seas made it under the other day by inches

  • I wish I was there for that one...

I'm sure the tides become a major

    factor at these heights!

  • It's going to happen again, just book yourself to Allure of the seas and you will live it again as the Allure leaves. :)

  • its just a bridge!

  • omg i remember that

i was stood near the funnel :)

  • Should't it be the Oresund Bridge that the Splendor passed under to go into the Baltic Sea.

  • That is what I first thought however,

my GPS showed Denmark land masses on the port and starboard sides of the ship and a quick check on the net shows the tower designs to be that of the Great Belt Bridge. The waypoint I pinned agrees with that finding.

The Oresund Bridge has a different design to the cable support towers as well as being a cable stayed design where as the Great Belt Bridge is of suspension design.

Check it out and let me know what you find.

    Appreciate the comment!

    Paul

  • You are right. The Oresund does not have enough clearance for the Splendor.

  • I didn't know it was a clearance issue.

I'm thinking that cruise ships aren't going to be able to get much bigger due to the world around them...

  • i think you are right about that...just look at the ship you were on, it nearly touched the brigde, and is not a low one, because the road is ca. 75 meters above the surfase....they can only go under the brigde when the tide is low

  • I remember that!

    Wheeeeee! :]
