  • This shows why relatively few artists try and cover Pixies songs. You can't come close.

  • Facebook page ''Good honest music'' for honest music fans

  • hahaha treyspr you dick, you obviously ain't listened to Outside from 95 or Heathen from 2002? The odds and ends he did with Trent Reznor where amazing. Of course if, like yourself, you only listen to chart music then you wouldn't have. Should we ask My Chemical Romance or some such too cover stuff so you get educated :) xxx

  • Moby should shut up and let Bowie do the singing!

  • BUENISIMO

  • weird awesome sound 1:06

  • Good, but The Pixies do it best!

  • Moby ruined this.

  • I love Bowie, & I love the Pixies. But come on Moby???? That was not good. Nobody can do it like Black Francis!

  • @666CLD666 thats not the point of a cover though is it, most of the time - a cover is out of respect for the original artist.

  • I got chills!

  • Long Live the Pixies indeed!!

  • nice tribute to charles with the B.. L.. A.. C.. K long live the pixies

  • I can't like or dislike this..... It's just different to the pixies.... I feel it loses some of the originals emotion... But hey, what do I know? Love Moby. Love David Bowie. Seems a bit self congratulatory for Jay Leno? Just sayin :-)

  • moby & bowie it's cool

  • Comment removed

  • moby gtfo

  • It is about time to realise that Franck Black is the greatest song writer America have ever had.

  • S-E-X-Y

  • dobre

  • Nobody mentioned Moby?

  • great pixies song, good cover, but doesn't have the emotion of the original for me

  • This version is way better with just David singing it

  • David the ultimate performer. Gives 100% every time.

  • my favorite part is Bowie spelling out Black, instead of Pixies. he must really like Francis. and to get your song covered by Bowie? amazing. although, i wish it were David Bryne with him instead of Moby!

  • if you don't recognize the author it's a lie even if you do it well

  • hmmmmmmmm......... i'd rather see the Pixies do it.......no offence to Dave but...

  • sin moby hubiese sido epica

  • This song is so sexy, a great love song!

  • hmm its not exactly frank black is it

  • @astroboirap No its David Bowie.

  • @IronManOfficialguy which makes it poop

  • thats fucking moby!

  • good cover choice

  • This is an honor to the most under appreciated band of all time...

  • @mrgrieves66 I couldn't have said it better! what a fuckin honor !

  • If this means : go out and buy Pixies records and go to Pixies concerts than that's ok I guess, otherwise...well I'm not sure. Euh, I'm not sure either way...

  • I love Bowie and the Pixies, I guess it is just one of the song not to remake by the pixies. I can imagine bowie doing the song "I bleed"

  • @electronicmedium Likewise. Or maybe "Brick is Red".

  • You can't go wrong with Bowie.

  • Good cover, but they took all the gloom out of the song

  • doesnt sound nearly dirty enuff imo

  • SuperDuper! i didnt expect any great bands to turn up when i searched for "pixies cover"

  • gotta say Bowie knows good music his or others like the Pixies or The Screaming Blue Messiahs

  • I worship Pixies. Saw 'em three nights ago -- tremendous. I've seen Bowie, he's superb; and I've enjoyed a few Moby shows. That said, this cover SUCKS. It does not capture the spirit of the song at all.

  • ABFAB....!what a mix!

  • What does that say when David Bowie is covering YOUR song?

  • @cardigansarecool Yeah exactly.

  • David and Frank Black are both really good buddies.

  • @cardigansarecool - Except that Bowie's been irrelevant for almost 3 decades.

  • @BayviewFinch I don't care for this much, and I hate Leno's show, but please don't discount a personality just because you think they are not producing "relevant" material anymore. He was pretty goddamned cool at one time, and the proof is immortalized on vinyl. He's not a racehorse long overdue the butcher... play those records and soften your tone a bit OK?

  • @edgarsterling - I like Bowie a lot more than the average person. There's no denying that most of his music since the mid-80's is not very listenable though. If he covered your song some time up to the early 80's, your jaw would have to drop. After that, it's still an honour, but who's really listening? People who have come to this video have had to search for it, either a Pixies or Bowie fan, or both. It's weird how that happened. Such good music for 15 years, then...

  • @BayviewFinch how many artists do good music let alone great for over a decade most cant even produce 2-3 good albums let alone 4 masterpieces in hunky ziggy low and station2station plus not everything inthe 90's was bad outside was decent lets face it pixes only produced 2 good albums.

  • @dlfunky1 - Only two good albums? That's not good enough for you? It's better than I can do. I'm not sure what you're trying to say here.

  • @BayviewFinch Bowie irrelevant? You must be a lady gaga fan loser!

  • @treyspr - How much post-"Let's Dance" Bowie music do you honestly think people listen to? The only people that buy those albums are ones who were previously fans over Bowie's older music. No kid in their right mind would download a new Bowie album without having been turned on to older music first. Then they'd give it a listen, maybe even like it a little, and promptly forget about it. I think Bowie made some great music. 30 years ago. That's pretty much what everyone else thinks too.

  • @BayviewFinch My friend, you used the word "irrelevant" but the man continues to sell out concerts on tour and i'm sure he's in his fifties or sixties. Of course his record sales will not be the same as 30 years ago but neither is any other superstar past his prime, such as Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna. But he still is creative and still influences many new artists.

  • @treyspr - Good afternoon. I'm just saying that musically he hasn't done anything relevant for about 3 decades, despite being a rock god. Of course it would be an honour to have him cover your song, but it's not going to mean much to anyone outside of the fan bases of Bowie and the Pixies. So, what does it mean when Bowie covers your song? You're lucky. You can brag to some people. But, realistically, in 2011?

  • @cardigansarecool it says Pixies are one of the greatest bands ever

  • it's a bit too clean and shiny, but i suppose they are covering the pixies, not emulating them, which is fine.

  • "best band of the 80's out side of sonic youth" -bowie

  • What the HELL is Moby doing here

  • Can you imagine being Moby and having to perform next to David Bowie? Talk about grounds for an inferiority complex!

  • holy crap! moby hahahaha didnt expect that..i clicked for bowie.

  • I have to say, goddamn that was good! National pixies day coming soon I hope. Fuck the rock and roll hall of fame they are bigger than that shit

  • Right on!

  • David sing Pixies...:))

    not bad Moby

  • ******

  • paying homage to the legends! greatest band of all time

  • Too bad Moby had to ruin this.

  • Boring comment...

  • The PIXIES RULE!!!!!

  • This is pretty good!

  • Too much fabulousness on one stage....if only Frank et al were there also........

  • its good, i prefer pixies though

  • This is pretty cool to see even if it's not great. Moby sounds like he is channeling Gordon Gano on his 1st vocal break.

  • moby, david bowie, violent femmes, and the pixies, thats an audible orgasm...

  • Your right he does.

  • amazing perf'!!

  • Something I never thought I'd see

  • bowie and moby, oh fuck yeah

  • this is a pretty good cover. and if you think THIS is what made the pixies trendy (again)you're pretty stupid. the soundtrack to fightclub sure did help though

  • Wow, Bowie actually has some meat on his bones here (by david bowie standards)...but it looks really good.

And leave Moby alone, just because he isn't facially blessed does not mean he isn't very talanted.

  • Was he shouting out Black Francis? "B-l-a-c-k" then "Charlie!"

  • Yes

  • this is depressive

it´s because of clowns, and posers like this...

  • ...posers like David Bowie? What?

  • david bowie a poser? wrong.

you obviously haven't heard a lot of his songs.

not reallya bad cover, they probably didn't even practice.

  • I wasn't calling him a poser, I was questioning why someone else was. Who calls David Bowie a poser? Actually who calls anyone a poser anymore. Sheesh...

  • i hope the audience knew itwas the pixies that did this song.

  • moby is a fucking cunt

  • Leave Moby alone!

  • moby's great indeed

  • Yes, he is. Nice and talented guy if you ask me and obviously Bowie agrees on that. He made some pretty good songs back in the day.

I can only guess that the "moby is a fucking cunt' comment is given good ratings mainly by people who simply don't like Moby's face. The same people who enjoy Bowie for his appearance and not for his music.

  • paranoia gogo rub it

  • Haha, I love him

  • love the pixies

  • it's weitd because Pixies name Bowie as one of their major influence.. and now him making a cover.. how awesome is that

  • its too loud and upbeat, it takes away from the great mood of the original

  • Bowie shouldnt need this. Listen to his concert at Santa Monica 72.

  • its alright. Singing at a concert like that I wouldnt expect the original. Not a terrible job

  • ah god david youve tainted it.

  • high praise indeed

    pixies rule!

  • very cool.

  • But Frank Black/Black Francis pretty much wrote every song (with the exception of a couple), so you could understand why. Also, I think Frank Black might be at least okayish friends with Bowie, as FB played on Bowie's 50th birthday celebration gig.

  • Would have been a 10 if it wasn't for the loser Moby on stage.

  • They were making a nod to Black Francis/Frank Black by spelling out B.L.A.C.K, alos Bowie shouts "Charlie" (Frank Black's real name is Charles)

  • yeh ur right, but would have made more sense to just spell out pixies as they were a band, not just him.

  • Karl Pilkington!

  • This cover sucks. The original is amazing and Bowie is just up there butchering it.

  • LOL!(:PIxIEs RocK!^_^

  • corporate little bitch ruining quality work through shoddy imitation, but enough talk of Jay Leno

  • P..I ...X ..E..

    much love FB.........

  • WTF is MOBY doing on stage with BOWIE?!?!?! Moby is a fucking little dick!!

  • the version of this on record is really quite good. this performance, however, seems to have lost its way.

  • Wow, the bizarrometer goes waaaay up in this one. First, you have Bowie performing in daylight *and* outdoors -two things he should never do. Second, you've got pathetically lame Moby "rocking", which in the same way, is sort of an oxymoron. And then you have Jay fucking 'we'll be right back with Shakira' Leno, man. I guess you'd just have to add up Britney to the mix to complete the freakshow.

I respect Bowie; I think he is (or was) a musical genius. But this Pixies cover sucks big time.

  • Earthlings was a phenominal industrial album in the mid 90's

  • Is that Moby?

  • HAHA it is!

  • AWSOME!!! BOWIE ROXXXXXXX! D-A-V-I-D

    lol

  • dude thats moby.

  • The shame.

  • Is that Moby?

  • Oh god this is horrible. There was me thinking Bowie might actually make it a little quirkier, what a letdown. B!L!A!C!K!

  • I know, right? No amount of Bowie sexiness can redeem that.

  • Yeah - it's just got no balls anymore, he's learned the song, not reworked it, and it used to be quite a dirty tune, this is a boneless family friendly pop song right here!

  • I completely disagree. I think Bowie rocked that song. Black Francais slurs the words around so that you can't, upon first hearing it, appreciate how disturbing and creepy what he's saying is. Bowie and Moby just stripped down what Pixies really is: Pop.

  • Frank Black is one of the most inspiring writers/performers ever-he inspired Kurt Cobain,+he sang Caribou the raw way its supposed to be sung! Whats the point in making songs sound the same as everything else, it completely removes the initial point of the song. It's like Jamie Cullum. Don't turn amazing/different sounding songs into karaoke crap!

  • I don't get it, who's Pro-Bowie?

  • I don't mean to be rude I just can't see what they've gained here, they didn't improve it, they didn't change it, they just look like they wanted to seem cool for covering a lesser known Pixies song.

  • If you listen to the studio version, you will find it very different to the Pixies one.

And as Bowie wouldn't shut up about the Pixies all through the 90's, this is just a tribute to them.

  • Pretty good cover. I don't think it out does the Pixies at all though.

  • wow, fantastic

  • thanks for your comment!

  • Nice.
