What a wonderful presentation from a man who obviously loves the Dead. I agree with Burrjazz...I've never seen so much pain expressed so beautifully. In the performance at Soldier Field in 1995 it really does sound as if he had a premonition because he poured out his soul into the song and he brought me close to tears. Thanks for posting this!
JDark I agree wholeheartedly with your opening. I was seeing lots of shows between 89 and the end so this was is a tune that truly brings me back to the carefree days of my youth witnessing the end of a legend. Sadly by 93ish it was becoming very obvious that he wasn't going to pull out of the funk he was in. It can be speculated as to why he declined to rapidly in those years but it's tunes like this one and Days Between that make it apparent that he saw it coming just like we did.
Thanks a lot JDarks. Your vids are really cool. I definitely hear ya with what you say at the beginning, but I saw the Dead when they debuted it. The song means a lot to me, it basically breaks my heart when I hear it . But it brings back a lot of memories for me and it gives me a real bittersweet feeling, I don't like it besause like us all, I miss Jerry, but strangely at the same time I like it. Now I can play it. Thanks man, I appreciate your vids and efforts.
at 7:46 does anyone know about the song that Jerry doll on the right plays if anyone has it, it plays a short guitar lick and I wanted to know what is is, JDARKS, maybe you can tell us and or teach it?!
its a beautiful song, days between has a similar "goodbye" feeling and is even more depressing imo. 9-18-94 is a really superb version of So many roads though
@adellethegreat Days Between can be sublime....... Jerry could really deliver with both his guitar and his voice but when he brought it all together (mind meld, spirit on fire, hands and heart as one) and it felt like you were not only a part of the music but the music itself, well those were the days my friends and I yearn for them or any days when Jerry was scheduled to play and anything was possible, whether they were days between or not.
@shaconage I would love to see JDarks or anyone else with talent and time to cover Days Between and teach us how to play it. The song can really deliver a wallop of a thunder clap.............
