i tried three 2 in store and the one i bought fresh out of the box. They all had this hiss noise and the one I took home even sounded like it picked up randio hiss, just aweful. Sound wise kind of thin very midish eqs didn't help much, yeah it's loud enough to play with a drummer, ways a ton but is durible. Honestly there are better amps out there even for this price just keep lookin'! I got lucky and as I was returning the raven I saw this new brand acoustic amplification I got one its awesome
@Dimefan91 I used to have one of these, and when placed on an amp stand it kept up with 'my' drummer (who plays at John Bonham levels) but I have since moved on to better amps.
he he I thougth it sounded better without the BOSS pedal... could be tho that you were still on the lead channel of the amp... or it looked like it anyway. would have probably sounded better hitting the clean channel.... but a great review of the amp.
thanks for taking the time. I have one on order now.

Seriously. We can see what the amp looks like. We also understand that it has a volume knob, and a speaker, and probably clean and dirty channels....... JUST PLAY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have two of these rg 60s. the first one broke and i got the second one off the warranty. so what i did was took the fried head out of the old amp and rigged up the speaker like a cabinet and atatched a cable to it so i can plug it into my external speaker output on the new one and have a "mini stack". but to compensate for the shitty distortion i use a metalcore ml-2 by boss. amazing pedal. way better than the metalzone mt-2. just an idea for anyone who wants a "budget amp" with good tone
ok well i have had this amp for a couple years and im n a band .we use to play punk rock stuff and i basicly got this for the power and the watts .the clean is pretty good but the distortion does suck but i have found a good sound if your wanting to play stuff like blink 182 green day .ect. turn the distortion on. gain all the way up, bass bout half way ,mid from 0-3,and treble all the way up.this should give u an ok distorted sound but i would personally advise you 2 get a better one
lololol you sound like tappy from requiem for a dream at the beggining : ´you asked for it , you wanted it, you got it!¨ JUICE BYE ROCKONGOOD PEOPLE BE EXCITED
i feel like with all the stuff thats in this like the tuner and footswitch/effects jacks this amp sacrifices a lot of sound. am i wrong. please tell me.
I actually used the 20 watt version of this amp (on the clean channel) to try out my twin tube classic, and almost bought the amp too because it was only 80 bucks and I don't have a small amp of any sort and these raven amps do have a pretty clear and accurate clean sound. With a pedal like the TT classic, basically an all-tube preamp, it is more than adequate. The built-in distortion of ss amps always sucks, but if you overdrive is coming from cascaded triodes it does sound much better.
hye im a new suscriber of u n im a newbie tooo......

I'm thinking about getting this amp, but I'm unsure about how loud it gets. I'd like to be able to play shows with it if possible and most of the reviews I've read have said that it's loud enough, but can anyone confirm this for me? Thanks!
@purplefloyd1739 It's loud enough to play with a drummer. For shows you may have to mic it. It depends on what kind of music you do and how loud the overall band is, (as always). It's a budget amp. I got one because my bugera tube amp was too loud for the little bars we play. I mic it though. Jeff Fiorentino uses a stock old crate 212 for shows and gets a good sound. He says any amp has a good setting. Check dialing in a sound on JFrocks.com
Im looking for a noise gate that acts like the one with the line six uber metal. any suggestions?? Im having a shit load of feedback from my wireless unit that i just got and i have monster cables that are brand new...Help anyone????
For a Fender Deluxe sound, use rhythmn channel with Bass 1/4, Mid 1/2, Treble 1/2. Adjust reverb to no more than 1/2. A blues sound is hard to get but use the lead channel with same EQ as rhythm channel but carefully set gain to 1/4. For the "Brown Sound", set gain 100%, Bass 0, Mid 3/4, Treble 1/2, Reverb 1/2. Use humbuckers only. Single coils are best into an effects unit first.
129jasaxos, your question is like asking, "what is the best sports car to buy?" What would you say? what would others say? Get what works for YOU.
It's sad that people slam Raven amps not knowing what these amps are capable of. These amps sound clean as a Fender amp and have a wider range of EQ for less cash. I own Fender amps and compared them. The lead channel has more EQ control than most amps. Solid state amps are best for effects pedals which YOU adjust to get the sounds you like.
@129jasaxos Raven amps are true solid state power. I owned many other brands and for example, Line6 75w amps are not as loud as Raven's 60w, Fender 40w, Marshall 30w, Vox 30w, etc. Plus Line6 sounds thinner. If you use pedals, go for a clean amp sound and let your pedals give you the sound you want. When you go tubes, you are stuck with that one preamp sound. That's okay, but it you play covers, a multi-effects pedal is what you should have.
Been playing for over 30 years and can say the Raven RG 60 and the much louder RG 100 are nice amps. For those that don't like the amp's sound have not heard the amp live and don't know that the EQ on these amps sweep a wide range. The reviewer does not address that fact. So how do viewers know that the amp can sound pretty much what you want? If you like Crate, you will like Raven as both are designed by common designers.
i have this exact same amp. the gain on it, in my opinion, kinda sucks, but the clean channel sounds awesome! i'm thinking about upgrading to a fender tube amp though...
@RandomGuitarist96 The DS-1 is a crap pedal. I had it and I sold it. Its very blahhh sounding. Get a distortion pedal with a dual gain circuit or a pedal with a tube in it. Ibanez Tube King or similar. The Boss metal zone is a decent pedal, but Im grabbing an Ibanez TK very soon.
i play hardcore and i use a raven rg 100 combo with just a cheap $30 bearhinger ultra metal um-300 from walmart.com hahaha and i use both a schecter damien, and a cheap epiphone special series 1 and it sounds so good i highly recamend it
Clean tone is quite good for a low cost SS amp. SS amps have come a long way. Put some pedals in front and she will shred. My little Fender 25R cant hack the boss metal zone anymore...lol..
@glydeuserhelp yea it is but its also normal to make sure your stuff is grounded right, i would suggest something with a ground lift if everything is buzzing or a noise suppressor ( it doesnt fix the problem just covers it up)
I think that you demonstrating this amp with a fender doesnt help us dual coil humbucker guitarists. I dont like the sound with a single coil, but with a dual its very nice
dude i didnt expect it to be this big . i juss bought the 1oo watt version . it didnt look THAT big in the pic . imma have trouble luggin this thing around . fuck . i need wheels
ok before anyone says anything let me tell you this, i own a raven rg 60 and it sounds amazing! hes settings suck ass there just random. tell me if you want settings i got great settings.
@915MemO Hey, at least it's better than the guys who never stop talking and play......
I personally like the faces he makes when he's doing that thing where he cuts himself off by playing ...... ya know, his mouth starts twitching and his eyebrows tense up. I find it hilarious.
guitargod8995, the hum isn't from the amp. the guitar's pickups aren't humbucking pickups. ravens are good amps and they're even better with humbuckers.
Jesus Christ, look at all the Stratocasters!!! Strat's are pretty good (I have a couple) but I find myself much more often reaching for one of my Telecasters, my Gibson Les Paul, my '67 Gibson Flying V or my '85 Gibson Artist Series Explorer....
I have the 20 watt version and I think the clean channel is ass. I got this am a year ago when I got my first electric and since then I played my guitar on some other amps and came back to mine wanting more variety in tones.
for around this kind of money the line 6 is way better i believe this raven model is about 200ish the line 6 75 watt model can be picked up at about 300$
Have you personally experienced using one and put it on the distortion setting? Remember that although the amp is a major factor in determining a certain sound, there are other factors that go with it.
I have. I test one out for literally two hours screwing with it and it is a well fitted distortion amp. You can vary from blues to black metal. I played the Raven RG60 amplifier.
roll the Treble back put mids at well mids and bass at 3 oclock (this is me using a marshall amps manuel but defined it as any other amp and yes it works with every amp)
ds 1 MAX DIST! and tone at wat ever level in mids sorry dont know what theyre primary sound is so just experiment
This was my second amp, Very cool ,i dont like all the crap on other amps, I have The 100 watt head and a 4 by 12 slant cab and love it! Have same guitar but also have Yamaha Guitars and a Telecaster's, .
im so confused. it seems like fender strats suck because people say the single coils are weak and stuff which may be true. but then theres the super expensive ones............so are fender strats good?
I am all about Fender Strats and Telecaster, I have the H.S.S( Fat Strat) Hard tail, Its what clapton plays,Dave murry of Iron Maiden .Robin Trower plays,SRV, I think thay scream!!!
Fender Strats Made in America fucking rock. The single coils just aren't as well suited to metal type distortion as a humbucker, but they do everything else fine IMO. If you wanna get the metal type distortion, get a petal or get a SD humbucker that fits in the single coil hole.
Ravens are awesome they kind of sound like slid state Marshalls in this vidoe the tone sucks mainly cause that guy cant play and he is using single coils
The fact that he even mentions that he could have hooked the DS1 up in the effects loop makes me shake my head.

@van1978halen he reminds me of haruhi subtracted from the bunny-suit

Jesus Christ, look at all the Stratocasters!!! Strat's are pretty good (I have a couple) but I find myself much more often reaching for one of my Telecasters, my Gibson Les Paul, my '67 Gibson Flying V or my '85 Gibson Artist Series Explorer....

the part where he said "made in china" kinda killed the fact i woulda probably bought the amp... :/

I have the 20 watt version and I think the clean channel is ass. I got this am a year ago when I got my first electric and since then I played my guitar on some other amps and came back to mine wanting more variety in tones.
Maxpound 2 years ago
for around this kind of money the line 6 is way better i believe this raven model is about 200ish the line 6 75 watt model can be picked up at about 300$

Would you recommend this over a Marshall MG30DFX? PLZ ANSWER!!!!!!!!!
ToastedOmond 2 years ago
yeah. its definently better.
Lextant 2 years ago
Oh yeah, my friend has that amp and it sounds way to thin and treblely. Get this or the $99 one with a distortion pedal and it's great.

6stringsex 2 years ago
Any chance is has a little bit of thrashy distortion?
KissMeImPunk 2 years ago
Oh yeah, It does. Trust me.
ColtonT66 2 years ago
Have you personally experienced using one and put it on the distortion setting? Remember that although the amp is a major factor in determining a certain sound, there are other factors that go with it.
KissMeImPunk 2 years ago
I have. I test one out for literally two hours screwing with it and it is a well fitted distortion amp. You can vary from blues to black metal. I played the Raven RG60 amplifier.
ColtonT66 2 years ago 2
Got any way I could gear it? I'm curious to see how much it can handle when coming from a thrash/early deth metal perspective.

CrusherDestroyer69 2 years ago
Why the hell is he playing DS1 through the Lead Channel??? You're supposed to hook distortion up through clean channel, or Rhythm in this case.
king666nothing 2 years ago
because he clearly states that the clean channel is fine, the pedal was to improve the lead channel.
mattj79 2 years ago 3
@mattj79 But mixing the amp distortion effect with a pedal distortion makes it sound like crap.
king666nothing 2 years ago
This was my second amp, Very cool ,i dont like all the crap on other amps, I have The 100 watt head and a 4 by 12 slant cab and love it! Have same guitar but also have Yamaha Guitars and a Telecaster's, .
Schon2112 2 years ago
im so confused. it seems like fender strats suck because people say the single coils are weak and stuff which may be true. but then theres the super expensive ones............so are fender strats good?
zqmbfg 2 years ago
I am all about Fender Strats and Telecaster, I have the H.S.S( Fat Strat) Hard tail, Its what clapton plays,Dave murry of Iron Maiden .Robin Trower plays,SRV, I think thay scream!!!
Schon2112 2 years ago
Fender Strats Made in America fucking rock. The single coils just aren't as well suited to metal type distortion as a humbucker, but they do everything else fine IMO. If you wanna get the metal type distortion, get a petal or get a SD humbucker that fits in the single coil hole.
claybreaker12gauge 2 years ago
i get a metal tone using the neck with the tone rollede down or the middle-bridge combo.
pedgaladnh 2 years ago
Ravens are awesome they kind of sound like slid state Marshalls in this vidoe the tone sucks mainly cause that guy cant play and he is using single coils
