The reason Gief gets away with lariat and other bs is this matchup. Viper can't cross Gief up, which is her biggest offensive trick, and she can't punish lariat very well at all, so most of this matchup is Gief spamming lariat and Viper trying to do something about it.

lol that's me! and my opinion on Zangief has changed. You have the good skilled Zangs and then you have the spamming Zangs that rely soley on Lariats, and one ultra combo kills. I've been using him lately and have begun to like him. And Vigil yes I know I play like a douche with Seth towards your Zang, but it's only because Seth has no stamina whatsoever against him lol!

Yeah I'm just saying once he gets in your defensive options are REALLY limited. You have plenty of options from a distance though. That's what makes the match a lot better for her now than it was when the game first came out. People realize now that she outzones Zangief very well.

It took a lot of guys to play against Zangief as C. Viper. I myself would never choose her when playing against Zangief/Sagat due to her low health. :(

Seth has low health too but he destroys Zangief. Akuma gives him a hard time too and you know his health isn't much better. The main reason Viper has a hard time against Zangief is simply because she has very few solid defensive options once Zangeif gets in. Her defensive options in general are very hit or miss and that doesn't work well against a character who can easily overwhelm you if he gets in close. The low health is just another extra issue. Top players don't worry bout low health.

I have to disagree with you a little. When the game first came out this matchup was 7-5 Zangief but now it's more like 5-5. In general once Zangief gets in your fucked or at least the possibility is there of you being fucked. Still Viper has defensive options. B+HK, or HP TK if he jumps. Her vertical jump HK rapes him. Bait a lariat and a free MP TK. If she blocks his cross-up Body Splash, Flame Kick to avoid throws and lows and she can backdash out of the rapid low jabs. She just has to be safe
