@ACAtheROCK Depends on which model of each... F-15 definitely has the BVR advantage, I think most US aircraft have that advantage over their Russian counterparts, due to better avionics. Russian aircraft generally have an agility advantage over the US aircraft though.
Su-27 has a relatively minor dogfight advantage against the F-15, that a good pilot can overcome. Now, when you start getting into the much more advanced variants... Su-30, 33, 35, With thrust vectoring? Its no contest at all.
@Ariana321 the new f-15s and f-18 have slight thrust vectoring but not comparable to the new SU so we pretty much have to rely on a F-22 to take on all of them, however the new F-15 silent eagle looks promising

The Sukhoi Flanker series on the other hand is far superior to the MiG-29. The F-15 has never faced an Su-27. It's easy to beat the computer if you are a skilled gamer btu in real live dogfight, it's skill and stamina of the pilot that counts. If all 3 pilots are the same skill and stamina, odds for a lone pilot to win a 1-2 fight is very very low. Best tactic is hit-and-run! Live to fight another day!
@lafmow Erm, mate one of the revolutionary things about the Su-27 was its advanced radar system that gave it the ability to target and launch a missile against an F-15 long before coming into the F15's targeting range, it really scared the shit out of the RAF because we didn't have anything even as good as an F15 at the time.

Eagles pilots should have information from AWACS. Most of the victories was made in BVR mode with AMRAAM. Its importatnt to know if some planes use jamming etc.

SU 27 can compete with F-22 head by head with only new Radar and minor upgrades from old version of SU 27... There shouldn't be problem ever for SU-27 to counter any of F15/16 planes. But on other hand in games like HAWX no one can hit no one. I played with friend SU-30+ vs F-22/35 and we couldn't shot down each other...

I'd have gone for 4, but then those faggots just line up together and rush me so I can't make effective 2 on 2 with my aim120's. While in reality they'd have all split the moment they saw the first splash.
Were you playing against rookie pilots or easy AI. even tough the SU-27 has a greater rate of turn than the F-15 you still have to widen your turn to line up for a gun shot on the less maneuverable F-15. if the wingman was a competent pilot he would have been waiting for for you line up for the kill, then as you lax your turn you would be hit.
As an ex military pilot I can tell you that much of our success has to do with situational awareness advantages. We have better sensors, better avionics, better AWACs, etc. Thus our pilots have their head in the game and now what is going on all around them. Most air forces cannot afford any type of AWACS or JSTARS capability, data uplinks between f ighter and AWACS. All things being equal it comes down to the man in the plane and his training and natural ability.
@DarkLordGR9 Su-27 radar can detect at 350-400 km away and R-77 range is 135 km. How F-15 take the chance to fire first? Without AWAC the F-15 is nothing but blind eagle against Su-27/30/33/35 except the pilot skill is good enough to defeat all missiles then choose to dogfight or escape. When Su-27 is out of long range missile then F-15 could runaway with superior speed or go dogfight, shows who is true badass. Though F-15 have AWAC then beware of anti-radar missile (multi-role fighter model)
@MiG359NTF The Su-27 radar is incapable of firing the R-77. Its detection range is also only 100 km tops against a fighter-sized target, maybe 200 for a large aircraft. The original Su-27 is growing old and obsolete, and the Russian Air Force can't modernize them fast enough to the Su-27SM or SM2 standard. They also don't have enough AWACS aircraft, and those things make any air force which operates tens of them superior to those with just one or two.
addys, your F15 is a really big shit, read the last redflag report : 1 f18 vs 1 mirage => mirage win, 1 f22 vs 1 rafale => rafale win, american pilots don't want to fly with french pilots, because they loose the combat anytimes xD stop to think, american aircraft are better than other aircraft !
@ps3bandit8 I didn't understand what exactly did you say but you should know that when american f15 came to train in my country our mig 29 completely overwhelmed them in dogfights and we had even mig 21 aircraft that scored points vs f15. Also note that our fighter pilots have around 50 flight hours per year unlike f15 pilots who are much more experienced. So event 5 f15 can't beat one su27 because s27 has more than 5 rockets :D
The trick to having no combat losses like the f-15 has is rather simple. Never sell ur aircraft to countries that cannot train their pilots to the level of the isralis or americans. Until the russians who sell moneky versions to anyone with money. 2, out number your opponent. Done. So 2-1 on a su-27 = dead su-27

And then when you are talking about impossibility of surviving in 2 on 1 situation then try to read something about serbian Mig 29 pilots who were able to outmaneuver several F-15, despite their mig vere damaged and mostly they had no radars or fully functional warning systems.. :)
@unwiredx You forgot to mention the Korean republuc airforce. They also operate F-15. And this only illistrates my point. All are very well developed air forces, with air combat aids such as AEW&C and Link ups. many airforces don't have these. Aswell as poor pilot training and lesser equiped models (iraq 1991 being key example). This is the key to large favourable kill ratio's and air superiority.

Eagles pilots should have information from AWACS. Most of the victories was made in BVR mode with AMRAAM. Its importatnt to know if some planes use jamming etc.

SU 27 can compete with F-22 head by head with only new Radar and minor upgrades from old version of SU 27... There shouldn't be problem ever for SU-27 to counter any of F15/16 planes. But on other hand in games like HAWX no one can hit no one. I played with friend SU-30+ vs F-22/35 and we couldn't shot down each other...

Fun to watch!!! But so wrong.
Just simple stuff: F-15 has the highest thrust to weight ratio. Until the Rappy.
In this kind of scenario, they will split and go high. And, won't bleed half the energy the Suky does in tight turns.
Full flaps on on full after burner = good bye wings. You need to use your slats, not flaps.
If the Suky had any chance, it would be from a longer/mid range missile, not guns.
Cobra's are good for two things:
1. Air shows
2. Getting killed in combat

I just shot down 3 Su-ck-27's with a single F15 in long range load out, on expert with heavy missile failure and realistic radar on.
Some one here sucks, badly.
I'd have gone for 4, but then those faggots just line up together and rush me so I can't make effective 2 on 2 with my aim120's. While in reality they'd have all split the moment they saw the first splash.

Were you playing against rookie pilots or easy AI. even tough the SU-27 has a greater rate of turn than the F-15 you still have to widen your turn to line up for a gun shot on the less maneuverable F-15. if the wingman was a competent pilot he would have been waiting for for you line up for the kill, then as you lax your turn you would be hit.

As an ex military pilot I can tell you that much of our success has to do with situational awareness advantages. We have better sensors, better avionics, better AWACs, etc. Thus our pilots have their head in the game and now what is going on all around them. Most air forces cannot afford any type of AWACS or JSTARS capability, data uplinks between f ighter and AWACS. All things being equal it comes down to the man in the plane and his training and natural ability.

@DarkLordGR9 Su-27 radar can detect at 350-400 km away and R-77 range is 135 km. How F-15 take the chance to fire first? Without AWAC the F-15 is nothing but blind eagle against Su-27/30/33/35 except the pilot skill is good enough to defeat all missiles then choose to dogfight or escape. When Su-27 is out of long range missile then F-15 could runaway with superior speed or go dogfight, shows who is true badass. Though F-15 have AWAC then beware of anti-radar missile (multi-role fighter model)

@MiG359NTF The Su-27 radar is incapable of firing the R-77. Its detection range is also only 100 km tops against a fighter-sized target, maybe 200 for a large aircraft. The original Su-27 is growing old and obsolete, and the Russian Air Force can't modernize them fast enough to the Su-27SM or SM2 standard. They also don't have enough AWACS aircraft, and those things make any air force which operates tens of them superior to those with just one or two.

@ps3bandit8 I didn't understand what exactly did you say but you should know that when american f15 came to train in my country our mig 29 completely overwhelmed them in dogfights and we had even mig 21 aircraft that scored points vs f15. Also note that our fighter pilots have around 50 flight hours per year unlike f15 pilots who are much more experienced. So event 5 f15 can't beat one su27 because s27 has more than 5 rockets :D

The trick to having no combat losses like the f-15 has is rather simple. Never sell ur aircraft to countries that cannot train their pilots to the level of the isralis or americans. Until the russians who sell moneky versions to anyone with money. 2, out number your opponent. Done. So 2-1 on a su-27 = dead su-27

@addys you should read something about military exercises over the pacific and you will see "how untrained" russian pilots are! :).. They had beaten US air force really badly.. And then when you are talking about impossibility of surviving in 2 on 1 situation then try to read something about serbian Mig 29 pilots who were able to outmaneuver several F-15, despite their mig vere damaged and mostly they had no radars or fully functional warning systems.. :)

@unwiredx You forgot to mention the Korean republuc airforce. They also operate F-15. And this only illistrates my point. All are very well developed air forces, with air combat aids such as AEW&C and Link ups. many airforces don't have these. Aswell as poor pilot training and lesser equiped models (iraq 1991 being key example). This is the key to large favourable kill ratio's and air superiority.

@airsoftguy111 A little bit of damage in the airframe's structure can greatly reduce lift, and increase drag. A fractured surface would also induce strong vibrations which would render supersonic flight impossible. Like the F-15 pilot said before, if he had known the damage of his aircraft, he would have bailed immediately. In a real dogfight, do you honestly think a damaged aircraft would be able to outmaneuver an intact attacker?
