Richard Marvin composed this part of soundtrack. You can find this particular part of music at Richard Marvin Dot Net His website has other parts of Six Feet Under and many of his works for other movies and TV shows. Without his music, I don't think many scenes in Six Feet Under will be as touch as it is.
Exactly. Such a powerfull scene, I never get tired of the change between Nate's and the other characters' scenes, the way one is living something awful like Nate, at the exact moment others are running menial tasks. This is life when u think about it, intense happiness or sorrow, and those everyday, unimportant, meaningless things(like combing your hair) that are nevertheless so valuable; we forget we should be grateful to be able to do those little things
i went through a terrible relationship break up when this aired. i loved the show and felt close to it. but when this episode ended the way it did, i balled my eyes out and felt so so alone, and the music and nate's screaming just completely made it the classic scene that it was. it was and still is (for me anyway) the most memorable scene in six feet under.
@minored360 All I have to say is watch Dexter!! Now that's the best tv show I've ever seen! No exaggeration. But I have never seen this so after I watch all of the dexter seasons I will start on this show. I love Michael C Hall he is a guinness!
It's my favorite show and one can talk about how incredible the finale was which it was very much so, but this was the best scene of the entire series, Kudos to Peter Krause for some incredible acting.
As much as I love the final scene of the series, THIS is the best scene to come out of this show. I'd go as far as to say this is the best scene in the history of television.
A serious, concise and rigourous analysis would have to be done to determine the places on the top 10 spots.
I don't of any film or tv organizations that might have done (or published) a rank such as this (the TOP_ _ _ ALL-TIME BEST SCENES ON A DRAMA SERIES) but it definitley would be an interesting thing to know about, and appealing for everyone as well.
It was never made clear how she died. Lisa carried on an affair with Hoyt, her brother in law prior to her marriage with Nate. I think she tried to call off on the relationship and may have even threatened to fess up to it to her sister. It's never made clear, however, leaving any theory possible. In the end, it doesn't matter how she died. All that mattered was the effect that it had on Nate's frame of mind and Maya.
Yeah and the brother in law kills himself at the end of series four, so that could suggest he did kill her and didn't want to go to jail for it or just killed himself so he wouldn't have to face his wife about Lisa. Either way, he was a coward
Judging by Hoyt's contempt towards Nate, he did seem to love Lisa, and probably resented Nate for playing such a prominent role in her life. Remember, it was after Nate and Lisa reconciled at Claire's art exhibit that Lisa turned up missing. My guess is that Lisa was really committed to making her marriage with Nate work and tried to cut her ties with Hoyt at the lake, and that Hoyt in turn flipped out and killed Lisa in an impulsive state of rage.
Another angle to this is that Hoyt may have been the birth father of Maya and not Nate. Which could explain to some degree why he had remained such a part of Lisa's life in secret even after she had married Nate. That was one of the lingering questions that was never answered -- but unlike most other shows, this is a good thing, adding even more layers to Nate's already complex character.
I highly doubt that Maya is Hoyt's. She got pregnant in Seattle and her sister and everything lived in California. And Lisa seemed to sure that it was Nate and in season 2 when she first tells him, she's all angry and if it might have been Hoyt's, i think she would have felt guilty and wouldn't have been so quick to jump at Nate's throat about it.
I always loved this show. But it was this scene = Nate burying Lisa and Krause's acting here that made me realize that SFU really was the best show I'd ever seen.
God, it's terrible. I've never seen anything s horrifying.
For me, it was very hard to watch. Esp. when Nate was beginning to take Lisa out of the big... whoa. Not to mention the gloomy music in the background.
And when he was done burying her, he goes crazy, just screams. You see, that's honestly the only way to truly move on after someone you love dies; let it all out.
it... i just started sobbing.

One of the best scenes from not just SFU, but any show, ever.
Silence speaks so loudly here.

That really is love. This scene is up there with the famous ending of the last episode for me. Powerful stuff.

Man, one of the most intense scenes I've ever seen on a TV show. Definately one of the best scenes in SFU.

Final scene of the series was my favorite. This is second. Third is right after Nate has his dream about Lisa and begins crying in the mirror.
