what in gods name made them decide to put george clinton onlead vocals he sounds horrible its amazing this song became a hit couldnt be from his singing
@mgalore Yeah, I feel ya. But notice they focused on conerts istead of recordings. In the studio, that stuff was crisp. That's what made them, not the concerts.
The original Mr T "George Clinton".LOL 5:50 wouldnt suprise me if Mr t was watchin this on TV as a kid and said to himslef, "I wanna a hair cut like that!"
Now the music business is more evil than ever and believe me theyre watching mr george again just to see if he can influnce a generation that is culturally and through our society to love his music just we in the seventies did, and if he gets ahead like he did before the illuminati will try to shut him up or shut him down...its brave what he's doing but to the powers that be its dangerous. My heart goes out to him..god bless him.
although he's been sampled many times he should have been paid every single time! But instead the record company's owned his music like they always do they get you high and while you are high they take your money and then make you pay them for monies owed!
Its a damn shame some slippery white man is rich from GEorge's work. Say what you will about Prince, he is a smart business man and this will never happen to him. He is a pioneer in music AND the music business. UNlike his forefathers, he understands the business and approaches it as a business man. Wish he couild have helped GEorge
@npgfunk-I don't know about all that. How long did Paisley Park last before it went under? And I'm pretty sure that he doesn't own all of his music either. That WB stuff belongs to WB, not Prince.
@Timmyfunk1 I didnt say he owns all of his music. Prince made that clear with the very public battle with WarnerBros. Paisley Park was the 80s. Prince has been independent since the 90s with his Emancipation abum. He owns all the music that he released since getting out of the WB deal. Prince was innovating the market with his own award winning download site and music club. A new rule was created after he went platinum giving away a new album with the concert ticket.
@npgfunk-Well then we can't say that this dude represents the business model for anyone, now can we? He's damn near the same boat as GC. His most important recordings are not in his possession. GC has also been independent since he re-emerged in 1989.
@Timmyfunk1 - You're right. Prince doesn't Own the WB stuff outright...that's why he got away from them...but he does get a "Percentage" on mechanical rights...( a small piece).
But Prince is rich mainly from the Concerts. Dude still sells out shows...
THere are no originals after him except Prince. Outkast, Janelle Monet, Lady Gaga - they are all derivative. The imprint of George CLinton is greater than most think. He is as important to history as Bob Dylan or Jimi Hendrix
@npgfunk - Nope....Stevie Wonder. Sly Stone. Larry Graham ( The Bass player who "Invented" thumping...) As well as the Godfather, JB, these cats were Originals......Prince is an "Amalgam" of Hendrix, Brown, Clinton, & Bowie, etc.....He studied them well. Brilliant talent, but he's Derivative as well.
It's makes me sad that there are SO many artists (Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Ice Cube, etc) that are still rich (supposedly) from sampling his music that he made atleast 30 plus years ago, and he has NOTHING to show from it. "Street cred" is nice, but it doesn't pay any bills.
So this was the beginning of Characters of singers. George Clinton, La Belle, Elton John, Michael Jackson (?) lol, Cher, Andre 3000, Lady Gaga, and Nicki Minaj.
SMH...A MAN AND A BAND OF PEOPLE I RESPECT DON'T SEE NO MONEY IT ALL GOES TO A MOTHAFUCKA WHO ROBBED THREW PAPER WORK AND DON'T EVEN WANNA SHARE NONE OF IT....SMH....PEOPLE THESE DAYS....WHAT HAPPEN..SMH

What many people may not realize, GC's people have been quietly trying to get money to various musicians who have done sesssion work for them in the past. That's the part of the story that doesn't get a lot of play. Maybe when we get all of the story, instead of bits and pieces, the opinions of GC will be a lot more balanced and more informative.
George Clinton signed away songs written by Funkadelic and didn't tell them. Is that straight-up the right thing to do? GC ripped them off and Armen ripped GC off. Karma. I don't know how GC even remembers what went on back then, the man stayed on acid. These young people are banging their heads against a brick wall. GC knew exactly what he was doing. The original Black on Black crime. I don't feel sorry for him for a second. He brought all this on himself.
The guys who write unsung..and give it to the lame guy with the voice..know what they want to tell and what they do not want told...even what pictures to show and what to not show...but since the public don't decide what they get to hear in the music industry..or who gets rich..why should the public decide what part of the truth to tell...Even the historian is a lame...but he got the call..they could have just let the folks involved tell the whole story..but no!..micromanage everything.
Not a thing mentioned about Gary Shider, who did a lot of the vocals. I wonder why that is? Nevertheless, a good documentary....but their contributions to funk and soul can't be condensed to a 40 min. show. Too much left untold.
Somehow George was able to get his message out there with some connection to his name. Bernie had solo projects, so did Junie Morrison, Quazar, Parlet, the Brides, etc., but they did not have the same public profile as the core P-Funk establishment or Mr. Clinton. I love them all, but George was the solidifying and ultimately the divisive element!! What are you to do???!!

@bongoloid77-The mirror thing is something I can agree with. But it really burns me up when someone describes a black artist as being the black version of someone white. Just like when people call Gil Scott-Heron the 'Black Bob Dylan'. People don't even realize how insulting and condescending that is. All performers are their own person. While everyone has their influences, in the end they stand as their own person.
When are people gonna realize it wasn't only black artists that were screwed outta their royalties? Black, white, or other get over it! Shit happens, don't like it, do something about it! Bitching about it over and over again ain't gonna change shit! People get tired of hearing it and won't be sympathetic at all about it! It's why people get tired of blacks complaining about shit from 75 years ago. Ok we get it you were wronged, that sucks, it was shit back then, can't change the past though.
@SuperStrik9 All the Motown stars were "ripped off" as well, to hear them tell it. Of course it had nothing to do with out of control spending and enormous drug problems.
@Noodleydoo of course you don't expect this to happen to white musicians do you...lol...it happens to all musicians..whether they do drugs of not..like Keith Richards.
we all know barry gordy aint no good!!!! but it is true whites have been stealing from blacks for along time to damn long!!!! have u ever notice that everyone gets payed back except the blacks?and we all know white folks aint no good either more in the music industry now them so real devils!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just because one talented does not shield one from understanding that whatever happens(costs) in business someone is paying for it...and it usually YOU! Read...Read to Comprehend.....then Read some more! Lastly, fame doesn't lead to fortune!
As a true funakteer, I try to support George everytime he comes to the Minneapolis, which is twice yearly. ....but like his facilitator says. "He is in his 70's and touring takes its toll and its only a band-aid to a gunshot wound! PEACE WITH 2!
UHHHH...YEAHHHH...Those men, who happened to be white, STOLE GEORGE'S LEGACY. Think about it....he signed only a few songs over to them and they contended & forged documents to say that he signed over ALL his songs? That is straight robbing....let this be a lesson to our young musicians.....you have to have to have a mind for BUSINESS in the music business. Read EVERYTHING and CONTROL YOUR CREATIVE PRODUCT.
Ummm......John Branca lied and said MJ signed over Branca as the executor of his estate....when, in actuality it was a flaw of not updating Michael's will. How the F**K you gonna fight MJ's Mom Katherine in court, when MJ practically worshipped his Mom!!? Greedy bastard, just like this man stealing from George. Just like Little Richard getting robbed....just like the Fat Boys getting robbed. I mean, really----MJ signed a will in 2002. How many people YOU are still cool with from 2002!?
When you get a minute check out my Video channel called
"Kato's Music Room" @
vodpod dot com/katosmusicroom
There are a LOT of inspirational messages from Bishop T.D Jakes, Bishop Noel Jones, Dr. Jamal Bryant, as well as complete episodes of my favorite TV shows like "TV One's Unsung", "I hate Chris" etc....You'll also find videos of my favorite music artist's like Marvin Gaye, Enchantment, Al Green & Gospel Music !
All George if possible, can do is re-record, or somehow re-do some of the key songs anew. Prince threatened Warner Brothers he was going to re-record all his albums at one point, they backed off. But of course, thats some serious work.
I got into a problem where I found myself being threatened not to use the design work I did by being thrown a lawyer at me. All I said was, keep the work, I can RE-DO IT ALL AGAIN from my imagination, everything. They backed off. It was very empowering.
@wendileona Also, its a darn shame the Hip Hop community never had a benefit or some kind of fund or something to help George get paid. Oh but they took samples after samples since they don't have the Funk as well. Its a double edged sword.
I met George once, have a pic with him, no big ego, and I can tell by this documentary and his own history that he was a great boss.
My hip bone connected to my thigh bone, my thigh bone connected to my leg bone, my leg bone connected to my ankle ankle bone...I'm hung up on my bones! Ha ha...what..that's brilliant genius shit..right there!
the music industry itself is corrupt, but it's the musicians that pay the price. The crooks thought a piece of paper insured their looting forever, but the whole landscape of the business side of music has been changing for the past decade...
Wow - Sorry to know this. I had no idea this had happened to George Clinton. All I can say is you will reap what you sow. And that includes everybody - even this Boladian fella. I absolutely loves me some Parliament.
alot of artistz back in those dayz "got had" because of simply not understandn the "fine print" on documentz which would eventually send thingz into a tail spin for yearz..causin them to lose out on alot of financez they were suppose to get...most artistz who came yearz lata got wise to the business...and then there were some who still didnt because of poor management...but when itz all said and done, GEORGE BROUGHT THE FUNK!!!!
@psychedeligoat FUCK YOU TOO!!!!!!!!!! I wasn't talking about my brother George I was talking about how another white devil stole music & rights from another black musical artist. Nothing new, it was done with rock & roll and hip hop also. Elvis, Eminem and so on! I guess if you cant make it you have to steal it....or should we just all forgive and forget? Truth hurts don't it?
George's life is legendary. Heard he just did a Centennial Remix with Pinc Gator called Im A Que set to release in July 26. PG reminds me of a young GC. Cant wait to hear it!
the only benefit from having 70 people on the stage and all those over the top props is the fact they were producing all the records so they could get all there money, but then comes the problem of who wrote and contributed to what and then comes the lawsuits for royalties from these people it's never a good look in this situation. that's how Lauryn Hill got taken nobody was keeping track of who did what. the love of music got in the way and business was ignored
It's really sad the George Clinton doesn't own his publishing!! That's why it is so important for artist to know the business before they sign anything!!
What went down with Parliament, George Clinton and this manager, I wouldn't even call him that, that is plain unethical, messy and unprofessional. to name a few words.
@directordude Its humans? Then why do the "white" humans seem to always come out on top of the "black" humans all over the planet earth if it's just human? Its apparent that it's a lot more than just human....I know it's hard to admit it. It's cold but it's true!
@directordude Yeah but funny the disproportionate number of "pricks" as you call them are white. That would indicate to me it's their nature. This "prick" like behavior is the norm in white culture, while the exception in other cultures. Chew on that.....
Once again another white man steps in and gets rich from the hard work and talent of another great black person. And you gonna tell me the white man isn't the devil?
@Manyek The comment is what it is...true! Do you deny your ancestors have not done these things? If all white people are not like that, they certainly do come from that very nature. Just say, "you" the uploader of this video have not acted in a devilish manner as of yet...but you are the offspring of a devils and history proves that!
@Manyek sorry my white friend, sometimes my people act as if we don't ever commit crimes (because a white man never robbed me before) and besides, if he wants to call white ppl. "devils", then I know a whole lot of black "devils" too...just in my family alone!
@Manyek Do you think it matters to me that your white? Am I suppose to be swayed because you state your white? My comments are factual about a race of people not racist. My facts come from actual documented historical evidence left by your race of people. Now I know you don't like to hear it because you are in fact a member of the race I speak of. What I say hurts your feelings, but what about the 100's of millions of black people oppressed by your race? This man was robbed of his life's work!
@Manyek While I do not agree all white people are the devil. You get these comments because we get tired of hearing these stories of white men talking advantage of black talent for decades. If George and the other members are not getting money from their LIFES WORK, then I hope no more artist sample these songs. That while man got rich and his children rich. This is an old story and a tired one.
@dkn1362 Really?!! What a bunch of bullshit, there was never a declaration that a black person couldn't make a documentary about this man! Talk about racist! What you said, is the most racist thing I've heard in some time. George himself has said multiple times, he's color blind. He got screwed by an industry, not a race. There are racist white people, but you prove that there are racist black people as well. You missed the message of the music. Here's hoping for equality one day.
@PorchJunkies You calling me racist doesn't change a thing....is it still not the truth? This has been done countless times buy countless whites to countless blacks in every area of life, sports, music, arts, business, science, inventions and the list goes on. NOW YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE MY SAYING IT, BUT YOU CAN NOT DENY THE FACTS! The white boy Tommy Mattola from Sony Music Entertainment tried to do it to Michael Jackson....there is not enough space on YouTube for me begin to show you the examples!
@dneal1362 Hold your ground Brother because you are 100% Correct. Public forums like YouTube and FaceBook , like amerikkka in general are full of PROFESSIONAL TRUTH DODGERS especially when it comes to the truth about the white devils even though the evidence is overwhelming and like you said, there is not enough space to cover it. These assholes will make it look like you're doing something to white people by tellin the truth about em! Truth will not go away just because you devils hate it!
Damn; I think James Brown started it; then George took it to a whole other level. Seems like George was a mixture of James Brown and the hippie movement and gospel and the streets.
@MrsMamouna Ummmm....did he cheated his band members out of their money of not paying them? He got what he deserved then again I need to watch this whole video.
I bet that white dude rich as hell smh

@SuperStrik9 All the Motown stars were "ripped off" as well, to hear them tell it. Of course it had nothing to do with out of control spending and enormous drug problems.
Noodleydoo 4 months ago
@Noodleydoo of course you don't expect this to happen to white musicians do you...lol...it happens to all musicians..whether they do drugs of not..like Keith Richards.

I met George once, have a pic with him, no big ego, and I can tell by this documentary and his own history that he was a great boss.

the music industry itself is corrupt, but it's the musicians that pay the price. The crooks thought a piece of paper insured their looting forever, but the whole landscape of the business side of music has been changing for the past decade...

40mbooh 8 months ago 2
@psychedeligoat FUCK YOU TOO!!!!!!!!!! I wasn't talking about my brother George I was talking about how another white devil stole music & rights from another black musical artist. Nothing new, it was done with rock & roll and hip hop also. Elvis, Eminem and so on! I guess if you cant make it you have to steal it....or should we just all forgive and forget? Truth hurts don't it?

George's life is legendary. Heard he just did a Centennial Remix with Pinc Gator called Im A Que set to release in July 26. PG reminds me of a young GC. Cant wait to hear it!

the only benefit from having 70 people on the stage and all those over the top props is the fact they were producing all the records so they could get all there money, but then comes the problem of who wrote and contributed to what and then comes the lawsuits for royalties from these people it's never a good look in this situation. that's how Lauryn Hill got taken nobody was keeping track of who did what. the love of music got in the way and business was ignored

nothing to do with white and black, its humans. some are pricks some are not
directordude 8 months ago 23
@directordude Its humans? Then why do the "white" humans seem to always come out on top of the "black" humans all over the planet earth if it's just human? Its apparent that it's a lot more than just human....I know it's hard to admit it. It's cold but it's true!
dkn1362 8 months ago
@directordude Yeah but funny the disproportionate number of "pricks" as you call them are white. That would indicate to me it's their nature. This "prick" like behavior is the norm in white culture, while the exception in other cultures. Chew on that.....

@Manyek sorry my white friend, sometimes my people act as if we don't ever commit crimes (because a white man never robbed me before) and besides, if he wants to call white ppl. "devils", then I know a whole lot of black "devils" too...just in my family alone!

@Manyek not too much...it will hurt people's heads to know everyone isn't a walking sterotype....a few of us are indeed individuals...
canttouchthis421 7 months ago
@Manyek Do you think it matters to me that your white? Am I suppose to be swayed because you state your white? My comments are factual about a race of people not racist. My facts come from actual documented historical evidence left by your race of people. Now I know you don't like to hear it because you are in fact a member of the race I speak of. What I say hurts your feelings, but what about the 100's of millions of black people oppressed by your race? This man was robbed of his life's work!

TheRETROKID1980 6 months ago
@Manyek While I do not agree all white people are the devil. You get these comments because we get tired of hearing these stories of white men talking advantage of black talent for decades. If George and the other members are not getting money from their LIFES WORK, then I hope no more artist sample these songs. That while man got rich and his children rich. This is an old story and a tired one.

@Manyek Excuse my typos, thats what happens when you are mad when you type.
missVeemack 5 months ago
@dkn1362 Really?!! What a bunch of bullshit, there was never a declaration that a black person couldn't make a documentary about this man! Talk about racist! What you said, is the most racist thing I've heard in some time. George himself has said multiple times, he's color blind. He got screwed by an industry, not a race. There are racist white people, but you prove that there are racist black people as well. You missed the message of the music. Here's hoping for equality one day.
busaj 7 months ago
@dkn1362 that makes you racist for saying that brah.
PorchJunkies 6 months ago
@PorchJunkies You calling me racist doesn't change a thing....is it still not the truth? This has been done countless times buy countless whites to countless blacks in every area of life, sports, music, arts, business, science, inventions and the list goes on. NOW YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE MY SAYING IT, BUT YOU CAN NOT DENY THE FACTS! The white boy Tommy Mattola from Sony Music Entertainment tried to do it to Michael Jackson....there is not enough space on YouTube for me begin to show you the examples!
dneal1362 6 months ago 3
@dneal1362 Hold your ground Brother because you are 100% Correct. Public forums like YouTube and FaceBook , like amerikkka in general are full of PROFESSIONAL TRUTH DODGERS especially when it comes to the truth about the white devils even though the evidence is overwhelming and like you said, there is not enough space to cover it.
