I played this with my brother this game was the shit! now that i think about it the time i had my ps1 and n64 was when i enjoyed videogaming the most so many good games RE1 to RE3, dinocrisis, Lunar, Zelda all good games.

@AndyN Hehe, yeah, savestates are helpful to practice later bosses or complicated parts (Act 4 comes to my mind...) but you were actually playing the right way! That is, trying to achieve the 1 credit clear, aka, 1cc. I think I'll go back to Elemental Gearbolt. It's like Omega Boost: one of those awesome underrated classics.

@GloriousLight Yeah, I own both Elemental Gearbolt and Omega Boost. They're BOTH awesome games that don't get a lot of spotlight (except for that contest for EG...with the gold plated Guncon....)

I have a question.

How did you manage to run this game on epsxe?

I am using the same version that you are using, but for some reason when I start the game up it doesn't even load the intro movie, the emulator just shuts down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, it's a known bug of this old ePSXe version. You had to run the executable with a '-noauto' clause through the command line but it has been solved for the newest 1.7.0. Try getting that one as it also increases mouse compatibility.

No not at all i have three copies for like $20 at my local game store. It looks really good but is it worth playing without a light gun? i heard it really wasnt that great if you didnt play with the gun. was he using the controller in the vid?

Yes, this game is such a finger breaker... I finally recorded a video of Chapter 4, arguably the turning point where the game goes quite crazy difficulty-wise.

I miss the shooters on-rails with this level of insanity, surrealism and coolness.

Ok, now that was disappointing, i thought that from the name given to this game that it would have been more spectacular, out of this world sort of game. To me the gameplay looks like Area 51 meets Maximum force only with space aliens and no humans.

I beat this game about 7-8 years ago on Master difficulty. It's one of my favorite classics.

lol It's kinda easy to move with the mouse but... no man, this thing is horribly hard! At times is just plain obscene due to the speed people come on the screen and the reaction time. I kept using the same weapon as the other two feel so damn useless. But that's me.

All the glory for save states. This thing was a TORTURE on the PSX...

You can use the mouse to play the game. If you go to the pad configuration part you can enable the F5 key to activate the mouse (warning, this will block the keyboard/joystick until you press F5 again). After that, the game plays like House of the Dead series, although this one is infinitely hard, even on normal. My wrist can't resist more than 30-40 mins with this game...
