Getting ri of my FX 5900SE for at least "20" bucks (Broken fan) check ebay you can get a Geforce 4 Ti fan to replace it. (Same Exact thing cept the 5900's is gol' an says 5900SE an trust me I' compared the image (Print, etc) it's 99.9% the same only the colour an stuff are different "I.E. pictures on the cooling unit.)

Doom 3 was originally a DX 8.0 game so naturally the GFX being a DX 9.0 card can run it without problems other wise why would it run at ALL on the Xbox which uses the lowest of DX 8 graphics chips?

I'm on a budget also there are currently no jobs available that I can go to (Espeically considering school just started back up so I have "Little" "not enough" if any time to attemp such a thing.)

That would be nice, however shelling out 400$ won't happen I'm on a budget an older mother boards with  "Athlon 64 x2" can be had for cheap now, I'll stick with a 50$ budget (The CPU's an Mobo's "PCI-E 2.0" plus cases are CHEAP as hell.)

Hell, they work on pci-ex16 with no problems either.

60-65$ = G31 chipset mobo handling up to 1333FSB + a decent Intel dual core CPU combo @ Newegg.

So yeah CPU+Mobo for 60$ is a pretty good deal, your overal PC would probably cost 150-200$ with 2GB of DDR2 RAM, 320gb HDD and a decent 350w PSU.

@shigalbigal true I currently am running a P4 1.3ghz plan to upgrade to a 1.6 or 2.0ghz one whilst I wait till I have the money to build a new one. (P4 is old and thus CHEAP.)

Probably using a 64 x2 athlon. o : I'm not exactly rich so money is sparse choosing the cheapest CPU and other things is essential, so long as they arn't junk.

I can get a decent case "Bundled" with a PSU of 350 - 450watts for relatively cheap, (PSU isn't even half bad either I checked the specs.)

Works pretty good for now, got my E5400 to 3,5Ghz on stock voltage with a crappy Foxconn G31MX-K motherboard :) .

Not bad for games like quake4, doom3 etc on medium details. The one big problem with some fx cards is too small heat sink and overheating. 5500 is only upgraded 5200 but is not so bad if have 128bit memory interface, big heat sink and really good thermal grease.
