DON is not a name of family's head and of course it's not a part of the name. In italian language DON means just the fact that person who's called this way is someone who takes respect. It's a similiar to "Senior", "Sir" and so on but nowadays these words can be applied to anyone while DON still means special respectability of a person who's called so. Remember "Don Juan"? That's it. I recommend you all to go and buy "Godfather" BOOK by Mario Pjuzo coz this film based on this book.
