  • it's really incredible how easy you make it, thank you, you are my inspiration!

  • My mom loves the videos! Nice job jenny, im impresseed!!!!

  • Never mind my question, I read the earlier comments and got my answer. Your videos have been instrumental for a newbie like myself learning how to quilt. I have used so many of your tips and ideas, and I now can consider quilting a huge hobby of mine. :) I made 5 quilts for family members and friends this Christmas! Thank you!!

  • @beckyg325 Thanks for the comments Becky! How awesome that you have already made 5 quilts!! Keep on quilting!

  • What a great tutorial! How do I a make the 4 patches with a layer cake, rather than the jelly roll you modeled with? Thanks! :)

  • please could you tell what kind of thread is used to do the finnal quilting and how do chose the colour of the thread?

  • @nechamatova We use regular machine quilting thread by Superior thread to do our quilting. To choose a color I lay several threads across the quilt and pick the one that hides the best. I think the quilt should be the star not the thread.

  • (add 20 inches of border so it will end up being 78 by78 . how wide the first border( the inner one and how wide the outer border or is it better to buy another layer cake and continue the jacobs so it will look more uniform?

  • @nechamatova You can do that and your borders would be 10 inches on each side. So you can do any combination of sizes for the border. Like a 3 inch inner border and 7 inch outer border or 4 and 6 etc....It will look beautiful!

  • How many packages of the Little Gathering layer cakes will it take to make a medium (78x78) quilt? Also it looks like the border material matches the layer cake. I am new to your website and new to quilting. How can I purchase your material for the borders? Love your tutorials!!!

  • @bleviba1 The quilt I made is 58x58 and I used 1 layer cake....so 2 will be more than enough. And yes you can purchase fabric on our site. For a 78 x78 quilt you will need 3/4 yard for the inner border and for the outer border you will need...1 1/2 yard....have fun!

  • is the quilt behind you ,gourgeous, in the same measurments as in the tutorial?

  • @nechamatova For this quilt I used 1 layer cake and divided it into 4 and made half of them into 4 patches and the other half into 1/2 square triangles.

  • I love the way you decoded what looked like a very complex block.

  • Jenny, u are something else,,tried this and sure have to be on your toes or it can twisted in a heart beat, found out the hard way,,,but pretty when i did get it done..gonna make a whole bunch....

  • @vickie1939 Good luck!! It is such a gorgeous pattern!! :)

  • jenny you are awesome I love your videos you make every thing look so easy I have learned a lot from you. you don't have to know design just by memery a design board would haelp viewers.

  • Jenny your awesome!!!! I love all your great ideas...

  • Dear Jenny, thank you very much for your tutorials. I learned many things from you.You make everything so easy. YOU ARE THE BEST !

I live in Russia and I feel like I have a great friend in USA.

Thanks again, you are fantastic !

  • Jenny is a hero to all. I love that she real. She tells it like it is. Lining up the blocks with a sample block and repeating red goes here, red red and so on.

No matter what she is teaching I feel I have a friend to watch over and over again with out lossing hope.

  • @tourerish Thanks so much!

  • Another great tutorial!!! Thanks !!!

  • Two questions: First, is the Little Gatherings Wall hanging made out of layer cake because the squares look smaller to me but it could be that it's just farther away in the video? And second, what width of borders did you use on the wall hanging so I can order some additional fabric for that? Thanks so much! I love your tutorials!

  • @WVPuckNut The inner border is 2 1/2 inches and the outer border is 4inches.

  • What is the make of the ruler you are using can't sem to find onw here in australia. With such clean lines.

  • awsum Jenny. You are a newbies hero!! Hope you & yours have a great thanksgiving!

  • Love this quilttuorial

  • Jenny ....help! I'm working at mixing the fabrics into blocks but I'm trying not to duplicate the blocks. Suffice to say I'm driving myself crazy! How do you mix the fabrics ?

  • @brook714 Hi Brook---I think you are trying way too hard!!! I just separated mine by light and dark....and then I just watched to make sure I

didn't have the same fabric right together.. Please don't go crazy! haha

  • Thanks = děkuji . Dana

  • Great video! The quality is like Hi-Def!!

  • How much yardage do you think you would need to make a king size?

    Thanks! :D

  • @mquiggins Well...I am estimating about 4 yards of each color, or 3 to 4 layercakes.

  • Wow! Thanks for this wonderful tutorial.

  • I have learned so much from your tutorials and love your enthusiasm! Thank you very much Jenny & MSQC.

Would you please clarify why you say that we need a Layer Cake to make a Jacob's Ladder quilt when your demo uses jelly roll strips and charm packs? I'm confused. Thanks for your help.

  • I just love all of your tutorials...they are so inspiring and you make it so easy!!

  • Great video. How much fabric does it take to make the red and white version? What size would 2 yards of red and 2 yards of white make? How do you think you will finish it? Any borders or just a binding? Will the binding be a bias red and white stripe? Thanks for your videos.

  • @YTSFH1 Wow...I love the stripe idea....Probably I will just put a binding. One layer cake or jelly roll is equal to 2 3/4 yards of fabric and when you put those together you get a queen....so with 2 yards of each you will probably get a full size.....Have fun!

  • love it you make me whant to go use my sewing mashine so bad

  • Hi Jenny. I just LOVE ALL your tutorials.... :) I have a question if you don't mind my asking. Couldn't you use the technique you showed making the half square triangles? The one where you put two squares together and sew a 1/4" all away around and then cut it into fourths? I think it would be even faster using that technique, too, right? I apologize if I am overstepping my bounds... but I use all your techniques to the fullest I can... :) Keep them coming... :)

  • @3Playtime7 You can do it that way but since I was using a Layer cake that i cut into 4 charm size squares I had to figure it using the charm size and then the half squares would have been too small....but if I had used layer cakes ...hummm I will have to think on that. Thanks for spurring on my mind.

  • Perfect simple and fast... Love it ... Thanks Jenny

  • Another quick terrific lesson ! ! ! Thanks & keep 'em coming.

  • I LOVE THIS.... THANKS Jenny, your wonderful.

  • what is that ruler you were using? I need it!!

  • @verycraftymama The ruler is The Cutting Edge Ruler 9.5"x 9.5" by Sullivan's SKU#38180 -M, you can find it on our website if you want it! :) Hope this helps and have a lovely day!!

  • GREAT! So easy but looks so impressive! Thanks Jenny...keep those great ideas coming!

  • OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!

    Jenny, this is WONDERFUL!!!

Making those old blocks easy makes quilting so fast and easy!

I love the old blocks but get so tired of all the cutting and math.

THANK YOU! Your the original IRON QUILTER !

  • this will be the next quilt i make for my sister, thanks so much jenny.

i cannot get enough of you guys just love all your tutorials.

    lesley australia.

    thank you.

  • Love it! Thank you

  • How big will the quilt be with a layer cake? BTW I love you tutorials!

  • Jenny If I use a Jelly roll and charm pack, would one cp be enough for a twin?

  • @brook714 You would end up with way more four patches than half square trianlges, You would need 2 charm packs and you would only use 1/2 of your jelly roll.....

  • As per usual Jenni - easy instructions and beautifully spoken. Many thanks for posting. Seasons' Wishes to all at MSQC!!!!!!.....

  • Oh MSQC! How I love thee! I didn't realize Jacob's Ladder could be this simple! My Great Aunt always made this type of quilt for me. I am blessed to still have them, and now I can make them myself! THANK YOU!

  • where did you get the sew cute sign and scissors on your back wall?

  • @cutwiz1 The Sew cute came from Joann's and the scissors i got at TJ Maxx

    Aren't they cute!

  • I just made this block. It went together really easy. Thank you so much for the great job you do on these tutorials.

  • stunning! Do you supply cutting directions with a layer cake pack ?

  • @yumagirl55 When you use a layer cake you will cut it into 4 ths. This will give you the equivalent of 4 charm packs. Divide those in half and make 2 of them into the half square triangles and the other 2 into four patches.

  • That is way cool!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hmm, what is the best way to cut out the layer cake all out for this quilt?

  • @hillbillyhandiworks Cut it into 4ths and use 2 of them to make the 4 patches and 2 of the to make the 1/2 square triangles.

  • Fantastic ideas, thank you so much!

  • Candy Cane!!

  • This is so beautiful and understanding, I love it

  • Once again, you made it so easy! Thanks, Jenny!!!!
