  • Yes, the auditions ended on the 28th of January. They are almost done with the panel judging, then the public votes (Which i'm wondering how thats going to work)

  • It's amazing what we can do in the music world today, but I think this has been far on the backburner for classical music. Popular music has been doing this for years, auditioning over the internet, sending in recordings and such. It's about time conductors and classical musicians alike start something like this. It's a good experience for those wanting to become a performing musician. Good luck to all who entered.

  • Do you know the stupid thing about this comp? Any pro could just create an account a week or 2 before submissions close and be better than the amateurs. So young players who actually have contributed something to youtube may get passed up for a great opportunity and someone who has done nothing gets a free trip to America. How it that fair? It'll be interesting to see how the auditions are judged in these circumstances, and what they take into account.

  • why should a call for audition submissions incite such open hostility? regarding those who think the call is judgmental, it is an audition for an unprecedented event, the likes of which are called historic by definition. so talent is a requirement, judges who review submissions are called upon to "judge" and select the best of these.

    this is the stuff of visionaries. and musicians have a rare opportunity to be selected on the basis of talent, regardless of age or formal education.
