Our high school has a Madrigal group and so does the middle school and we are going to where the clothes the children of the time period did and it is going to be epic! and our group is 1/4 the size of this and it sounds just like it!! we have 3 guys O_e
This was great! You all must have practiced a while to get your rhythm exactly alike XD But anyway, yeah, my choir does this song like your fourth verse, with the first line unison and breaking into parts after "all over the town". ^^
I can totally agree with you. The words they are singing are even wrong. our BREAD it is white.. GREEN maple tree.. The madrigals I am a part of sing this song way better with a more interesting rendition.
plus at the end we do sing verses with harmonies, our director decided girls uni, guys uni, parts and so on for all our verses and there were 6 I think.
The words will vary by version considering its a very old song. The version we sang toast, not bread, and white not green. But we had a more complex setup aswell.
Chill out, this song was written ages ago, of course there is going to be some variation. My group uses the exact words they are singing, with TOAST and WHITE as you so aptly said were "wrong". I like our version better anyhow.

um not too sure your words are right. I am fairly certain these are the right words and original or most widely used arrangment.

Eh, I find the Glouchestershire Wassail the most entertaining version, personally. I find the other ones boring.
But our verses are done in partners.

They're not singing anything different. These are the actual words. I'm just annoyed with their lack of harmonies.
