Jim & Becky, you got my vote and I confirmed it! Just one thing, if you win and drive up to Alaska (probably need a super long extension cord) you have to promise me a test drive! Test care and best of luck.
Your vote has been confirmed! Received from: Hi Guys, Area51 here in the High Desert.. as you can see I have confirmed my vote for the both of you. Dr. Zarkloff needs to give Becky her car back.. :S you tell him Becky lol <3 so sweet. I'm an all around tech love the science of heat and cooling and all the tech that comes with it.. keep the vid rolling! Maybe I'll show you some of the neat stuff here soon. Thanks and GoodLuck to the both of you. Area51XP
Number one let me say I hope you win it. But I have one concern with the car that you can see very well in your video is a major blind spot from the front windshield to the driver's-side door. In your video you can see that you Bob you head passed the front windshield and then moving ahead so you can see the traffic out of the passenger side window. This is a major blind spot I would not consider this vehicle just for that reason
@ibunregistered thats what im wondering about on this car. Since its 100% electric, it has no engine and therefore there is not an A/C compressor of that type. Its probably an electric A/C compressor but that must really drain the battery out of the car.
@DrZarkloff Would it be possible to convert this to a Heat Pump? Maybe you could email them expressing an interest in developing a heat pump southern edition of this. It would not work in the north, but here in FL it could be possible. The auto manufacturers already have northern & southern edition autos, with features such as window tinting and extra cooling features. This is perhaps something that your expertise could "bring to the table" and get you into that car. Just a thought.
@ibunregistered I asked why the heat had to be resistance heating. I was told that a heat pump wouldn't work very well in the winter. Your idea has good reasoning. Maybe they could lock out the compressor and energize the resistance heating if the outdoor air temperature dropped below freezing.
Happy to vote for the channel folks who have taught me a lot from my subscription. Hoping thousands of others do the same. Your videos are always informative!
Voted. That is a cool car! Their headquaters is near where I live. I have friends that work at Nissan. Good Luck!

Did they say to you how much cost new cells ?
Because it's very expensive.
michaelovitch 1 year ago
@michaelovitch The cells last for ten years before they become only 80 percent efficient.
DrZarkloff 1 year ago
@DrZarkloff my worry would be the electric bill. And as it is right now, gas is still cheaper than electricity.

@BlueFoxTV The econo mode in the Leaf won't let you peel rubber. You have to put it in regular drive to be able to peel out.

compdude957 1 year ago
@compdude957 Actually, the air conditioner uses only 10 percent of the battery resources. The electric heat strips is the real battery killer.
DrZarkloff 1 year ago
@DrZarkloff Heat strips in a car...eh...just bundle up and save some power.
scottphys 1 year ago
@ibunregistered Yeah, the A/C uses only ten percent of the battery resources. The electric heat strips sucks up a lot of juice, though.
