I don't think someone like J.Edwards is ever going to make it as a possible Dem candidate in 2008. Democratic voters deserve MUCH more than this to choose from!
Thanks. Anderson actually asked Obama this basic question last night, so I think Anderson thought it was good :-) After the debate, I think the better question is if the candidates think that their personal views should justify seperate but equal "civil unions" or whatever gay rights stance they advocate. Candidates think that because it's controversial, not so straight an issue that their personal views and troubles with the topic will suffice. It's just a cop-out on their part.
It's like as a presidential candidate, you need a stance on everything including gay marriage, but if you choose to dodge it by saying "I am troubled by it", then that's ok too. It's so screwed up. I've had enough of Bush's troubled days. I don't need another clueless leader. I think people should stop having sympathy for people like John Edwards and start demanding they worry more about being leaders than followers of public opinion.
I really wish the candidates would quit trying to tiptoe around the gay marriage question and answer with a simple yes or no.
