The Soviet collapse has turned out to be such a boom for historians interested in previously classified Soviet gov't archives. But getting access to them is only half the job. Will the Russians face up to corruption and mass murders committed by the Soviet gov't? This is going to be anything but easy. For one thing, there are still too many Stalin admirers out there and still hangovers of the hollow Soviet superpowerdom.
@Waterflux soviets are still in power in russia in the form KGB,also, soviet regime was never tried, people are thinking it was good again because no one condemned it's crimes,so sad.
i hate how people still say "glory to the soviet union" or "long live stalin" simply because they like the ideology of communism. but they don't seem to realize the hypocritical, hellish tortures that stalin and others committed against their own people, despite that they were "for the people." some people never learn from history.
We in the USA aere in the early stages of this kind of Communism. Oh, yes, the neo-cons are indeed promoters of everything communist. The neo-cons, just like the progressives, have no interest in free market economics and republican government.
@pkpapers Amen to that brotha!!! Liberals in this country villianize our free market system, which BTW, made the USA the greatest country on Earth. Look at Michale Moore for God's sake. The man makes millions by using Capitalism, the very thing he demonizes in his 'films'. How can one man be such a HUGE hypocrite!!!?
And you don't think that bride grooms are snatched at weddings in USA? Well, in the old days they were! And they use to beat pots and pans and swarm the house with neighbors. And then the men had to make search parties for the women. And if they didn't find the woman...oh well, new wife! (because she made a run for it after the chivalry party).
:02 There is a black man above the two men with glasses on the left side. Is this picture consistent with Black Russians in the Soviet Union at this time? Or is this too much vodka on the mixers part? Couldn't help notice the fake accent announcer as well. I can't believe that this brain washing was so easy upon the american public. And why didn't the usa see through this? The opportunity to input alarming tactics captivates and steals peace.
@frantic1971 I don't know how to respond to that. But you can be sure, there is a special place in hell for that man. No forgiveness shall come his way.
mock executions in NKVD prisons in Stalins time. And how US interrogators treated war prisoners around 2002, according to reports out today, Aug 24th 2009
@valgehiir Yes but thats because you have a communist system now in america with obama , but its still in its mild form , altho swat teams can now kick down your door just like nkvd without a warrant. So it is getting to the same level so to speak.
@280GTXXX Uh, Bush implemented the destruction of the constitution through the patriot act as well as wire-tapping. You're a fool who buy into propaganda.
@discojoe3 He was not, he had millions liquidated without a care in the world, the vast majority were innocent men and women. He signed an execution order for thousands then went to enjoy a comedy without a second thought. But he'll receive whats coming to him, you can be sure that there is a special place in Hades, I cannot say H E L L because it would remove my comments, for him.
I think you are right. I'm looking at his photo on the page "Mikhail Frinovsky" on Wikipedia, and this shows the same 4 decorations on the left side of his uniform. It certainly looks like Frinovsky.
Comrade Obama is beginning to look a lot like Stalin.

Stalin taught us one truth. Evil follows if people reject God And His commandments. He himself is a perfect exemple.

Question: Why were the innocent people arrested if the man the secret police came for was not at home?
Answer: Because the Cheka had to meet their quota.
