  • Your video is great. However, you need to push the firing pin on the way down, then insert the firing pin retainer. Otherwise, the firing pin will come off.

  • Short and sweet...nice video! I like how you are to the point and don't BS a lot. Thanks.

  • You didn't show which way the bolt needs to be oriented.

  • @mbrickner87 it kinda only goes in and fuctions 1 way...

  • @benchmstr I figured it out after taking it apart and putting it back together. Thanks.

  • @223n9

If you buy a new bolt carrier group do you have to re orient the retainer pin for the carrier to fit in the upper?

  • Couldn't see anything.. the fuck was the point?

  • lol i was stuck on this part, and when i watched this video i face palmed pretty hard

  • thanx for the vid dude nice job

  • doesnt the bolt have to go in a certain way? with regards to the ejector?

  • yep, he did it by rotating the bolt but uhm......didn't tell anyone the details. The bolt cam needs to be turned 90 degrees when you replace it too. When it comes to shit like this, it isn't "nit picking", gotta be very technical with this stuff about almost every detail. Didn't explain that the bolt has to be fully extended when reassembling too. He may know it, but not everyone knows this stuff and if you don't show them...... Oh well.

  • you should make a vid on how fast you can do it! lol good job though, my brothers buddy has an ar 15 and he showed us how to dissasemble it too.

  • How about staggering the gas rings? He left that part out.

  • I think for demonstration purposes he left out the oil part.

  • M16A2 Rifle Manual(TM 08838C-23&P2)Page 2-26: LUBRICATION; BOLT ASSEMBLY, All Items

  • LUBE! LUBE! Lube the bolt cam pin, bolt assembly, gas tube rings, every part that slides against another part! Save the life of your bolt carrier assembly and gas rings. It's ok to go a little overboard, residual oil will burn off when you fire the weapon again. Don't forget to put a coat of lube down the barrel with another cleaning wad.

  • I am currently testing different lubes, which one do you prefer?........same with the solvents.......any prefference?

  • I use Bore cleaner solvent after shooting, all parts. After 5,000 rounds all parts soaked in Simple Green and dried immediately.

I've tried various gun lubes on my AR-15, none deliver. The one lube I use now on my AR is Prolong, yep, the same automotive oil additive sold at auto parts stores. Prolong keeps friction parts lubed, doesn't burn off with the weapons heat. When I field strip it for cleaning, there's still lube on all the parts, it doesn't dry out like gun lubes seem to do.

  • Prolong is sold in the spray can and the precision dropper pen, I bought a few Prolong dropper pens to ensure I adequately lube all the parts on the bolt. The spray can works great to just coat the outside of the bolt before sliding it back into the carrier.

I've put over 10,000 rounds through my AR. It has fired with every pull of the trigger and no malfunction or jam.

  • AWESOME info, thanks for the reply!

  • @RacerXGTO how do you feel about 3 in 1 solvant and lube? what about hoppes? i always try various ones not that notice a difference.

  • It's similar to milspec CLP(cleaning lube protectant) Great for out in the field when you can't get the rifle on your workbench at home.
