Definitely one of my all time favourite albums. I was 14 when it came out. Wow. Amazing emotional music. What is Fish wearing? He must look back with a little embarrassment!
@worldcitizenforever Im not comparing Poison with Marillion, They´re absolutly diferent in genre of course...! Poison is Glam Rock, Marillion is Prog Rock.
I am a complete teetotaler and when I need to get high, I listen to this album! There is no better band than Marillion to celebrate the down side of life! I love you Marillion!
@worldcitizenforever POISON is not shit... Is one of the best Glam Metal Bands ever. It is just another genre diferent from Progressive Rock of MARILLION.
I tried as a teen to turn on all of my friends to this "party" album. All they wanted was Poison-type party songs and considered this a boring album. Of course it helped that I was a guitar player and lyric writer. So much powder engulfed to their whole Fish-era of music. Saw them open for Rush once too. WOW!
I'm 41 in 5 days.....and this album in its entirety has been the influence for......and has guided, moulded & supported me through my entire alcohol infested life... all of those that have been a part of this, would see it as a bad thing... I'm grateful, it could have been far worse, I'm sitting here now.. (obviously pissed!!!).... but as the lyrics state "if you maintain this life style, you won't reach 30".... only the good die young...happy Xmas all

It's great. Just great. It's so abstract and so real at the same time. Nowadays nothing like this music happens because we and our minds and the minds of our children are so much overwhelmed and paralyzed by the consumption society and lady gaga crap. They are squeezing everything out of us, we are enslaved, we are the slaves of the alarm clock of the capiltalist society. Long live MARILLION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The latest live Fish solo versions of this song seem to be quite anti-climatic. I guess too much booze. Fish was so much like Roger Waters, lyrically speaking.
as previous, they did a dope album, a coke album, an acid album, and a booze album in that order. For the most part, rthey managed to be more remarkable than anything purporting to be artistry today
Too bad Fish's voice isn't what it used to be because this would be a great reunion! But with all aging voices they eventually die out, but the musicians just keep getting better.
Yes, I agree Fish is all that you mentioned and more. I just feel that after seeing that one off reunion this year playing "Market Square Hero's" that a Marillion reunion my not be all what the fan's hope for.
Ah si j'avais su + jeune je les admiraient dejà ...je me serais précipitée à l'1 de leur concert tt leur ziK me fait vibrer!!! Que du bon et cette voix ouaaafff inégalable!!!

@LBjim I couldn't listen to this album for about three years because it was my favorite coke album to listen to. But after years of not using that shite it's better

Ich hörte Marillion 1986 zum ersten Mal und bin ihnen seitdem verfallen.
I was at that time circa 16 Jahre alt, aber niemals hatte mich Musik so beruehrt.
Everytime I listen to Marillion, bin ich an meine Jugend erinnert und werde von Gefühlen geschuettelt.
Da hilft only Beer or something like that to forget the Scheißtime.

Remedy for Broken heart:
1. Pick up that glass.
2. Summon all the answers with an ice cube chime.
3. Take the alternate way.
4. Listen to a lot of Fish.
5. Get a Marillion tattoo on your heart.
6. Clutch the short straw!

Clutching at Straws is a masterpiece, together with their first 2 albums. It's a golden prog-rock trilogy, more than just neo-prog at its best.
And I would add B-Side Themselves to the list, because it has a bunch of little gems. Long live Marillion. Fish is one of my personal heroes.
And this concert is stunning.

I will rather disagree about Fish, genius, poet and a rebel.
If you will probably remember Mark Knopflrer from Dire Straights the same
I was at his promotion of Sailing to Philadelphia in Canada.
My huge mistake of the choice of mine to enjoy his past.
Maybe you are right. When older, you become softer inside.

Ive seen so many great musicians on stage.
Intensity of their lives sooner or later is to burn them.
And, if I may say, it is not a voice to please next user
Creativity and search for themselves is the drive behind
If you feel too much, you have to give Piper in the Sky his price
And it is a high one
