If a cat is being that pissy, either it is angry because you provoked it or you need to smack it with a newspaper. Not a thick one, just enough to startle the cat, not hurt it. The cat will notice it's been hit, and even though it wasn't hurt, it understands that you're the alpha. That way, he/she won't follow you to try and bite you. It'll just sit somewhere and be pissy rather than try and attack you.
