@bwild61 I *think* some cadillacs could have it as an option too (maybe this was a couple of years later?) but it was never a particularly reliable system from what I've read. Gotta love those forward look Plymouths though, visually stunning to my eye
@mrspivvy , Lol! The Packard system would leak down if the car was not driven for a few days and the bumpers would be touching the ground! I believe you are right about those systems being options on cadilliacs and they had the same problem. I love those forward look Mopars!
Actually, Ford and GM still had fins in 1960 on most of their cars. Remember 59-60 Chevy & Cadillac. 59 Pontiacs had a pair of fins on each side. The 61 Ford Galaxie still had fins and even later on the Fairlane.
"P.D.Q" was a slang expression that meant "pretty darn quick". Except in this case, the meaning was changed to "Plymouth Dealer Quick".
The '57 Plymouth's styling was ahead of Ford and GM in looking space-age. But despite this commercial's claim that the styling would remain years ahead, thus making the car hold its value, in reality fins would be very out of style in just a few years. And by 1960, Plymouth still had 'em while the others had dropped them.
@GenericGene Yeah I think it was only detail differences between '57 and 58, ie, the 57's had "fake" dual beam headlights, the '58 proper ones, lower front grille was different, etc. I would love one of any from '57-'59, and it needn't even be red
I wonder what "Torsion Air" is. Is it just some leafsprings and coils given a fancy name, or is it a whole lot better?

Torsion bar suspension. I know detroit was messing about with air bag suspension back then but don't know if Plyouth ever had it.

Chrysler was ahead of it's time in technology and styling. Now it's the Japs. What a disappointment. :(

The 57 and 58 looked very much the same - Chrysler jumped the gun with the 57 on Ford & GM - entering in the duel headligt base and big fins -

That guy's name was Tom Kennedy. He went on to become a game show host just a few years after he made this spot.
