  • ok... impressive.. ok quite bad.. BUT if you were in, you'd be alive, if chinese make a rear engine car, a crashtest will launch it 30m away by the front window...

  • BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *wets his pants* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *dies*

  • 1938 produced WTF?!?

  • @peas1337 21 million were made!

  • больно

  • basicly if you crash this car you have a 100% chances of dying

  • I had made my drivers license on this car. Although the 1970s beetle models had a crushing zone and the drivers compartment remained intact, you must consider that the gasoline tank was intalled inside the crushing area.

  • God bless the driver!

  • 5 stars

  • Fares better than the gokart would've....

  • Its good, remember this is a 1930´s car

  • centain death

  • Right in the middle of all that crushed steel is the fuel tank-- Think about it.

  • ouch....better hope i dont crash in my bug

  • oo it's so.........fucking unsafe.when you crash you get immediatly killed.L0L

  • You killed a classic Beetle?!!!

  • @Madness832 it might not be classic I believe they made them into the 80's or 90's with the same basic design as the original

  • @graidstin That could be true as they were making them in Mexico up until not-too-long-ago. But it just piqued my heart to see 'em smash up Herbie!

  • The majority of the safety cage remains relatively stable, although there will be some definite intrusion in the foot area, which could cause broken legs. Hell, this is better than some cars from the 1990's.

  • its bad to know that i drive one of those everyday :S

  • Now that's a safe car

  • Ohh, such a nice car, disturbed in less than one second :(

  • Not sure what the point of testing this ancient car in a modern testing environment is. Of course a car made before a set of safety standards were invented will fail to live up to those standards.

I mean FFS the trunk was in the front of these things.

  • Un disastro!!!!

  • not good, i feel like i would hit that front glass with my ugly face in this impact in this car, and that could make me more ugly. And then girls wouldn't suck my dick so often.

  • ese choke es mas de 80 millas por hora :D si aguanta digo cualquier carro nuevo a esa velocidad queda peor :(

  • Quite a hollow space too since the engies in the back dont think its that bad

  • menos mal que no voy dentro......

  • add an airbag and it will pass "TODAY" in 2010!!!!!! not in 63

  • Fuckin' Vocho, is UNDESTRUCTIBLE!!!

  • Better than My Chevrolet Aveo 2009

  • @adnanodiab no not better man... this was done at 30 mph 48km/h speed, the aveo was tested at 40 mph 64km/h... so it isn't comaprable at all

  • Not bad for a car designed almost 70 years ago. A lot better than that Chinese crap if you ask me

  • @vandenabeeleandries we dont ask you

  • @vandenabeeleandries actually....its pretty poor, the steering wheel has been pushed into the drivers chest, the footwell (what footwell) doesnt exist, meaning crushed legs probably amputation, smashed face into steering wheel etc etc

  • @dergangedchipmunk But take any car from that time , or even newer models , and do a crash test ... U will see that they wont do any better ...

  • better than those new Chinese cars

  • yup i agree much better....

  • it had no air bag, Chinese cars do

  • @lambodude98 ya but an airbag wont help if the front grille gos through your head

  • @lambodude98 hahaha the airbag is a "decoration thing" in those chinese cars

  • todo mundo morre kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • RIP!

  • Front end is just gone!

  • the engine is in the back of the VW beetle and the front is the trunk but you could sevive

  • ese ha de ser de los modelos de fibra de carbono, yo tengo un 83 y es puro fierro al mio no le para eso =D

  • they are Heavy

  • very safe car!

  • hahahahahaha!

  • merked

  • Tragedia :/

  • Oh my goodness ! That's horrible. Thank god that there is a such thing as airbags and hard crumple zones today !

  • The car has no formal "crumple zone", it was first sold in 1938 mind you. The best they did was install collapsible steering columns.

It does fare better than the VW Microbus, as seen in a video floating around here. That thing just folds like you drove a shoebox into a wall.

  • Crush zone ends at the engine, like in every normal car :D

  • well, uhm, tis car has the engine on the back

  • legless

  • the doll is fucked R.I.P doll

  • What's ironic is that the crush zone is almost half the car yet there's so much crush zone that it dissipates the a lot of energy. Then again, the shitty part is the legs and skull are part of that crush zone, so it's a triple negative.

  • I think that will buff out.

  • I feel sorry for that doll

  • Just like squash house bugs huh?

  • Yes there are Bugs in Mexico but VW stopped to make it since 2003

  • I dont know why do you worry, that model is not manufactured anymore :( .... but is ok for a +60 year old technology.

  • they stillm ake bugs in Mexico, economy class for the people they are fun, $9'000 usd

  • no, they discontinued in 2003. Interesting, btw, was the fact that the beetle in this crash test was bad, but that the Golf-2 was even worse. For a car designed in 1935, the crash results were not really bad.

  • wow thts death proof.....NOT!

  • wow that car was a epic crash test PHAIL

  • c'mon this cars has been designed in 1938, and I think is even better than a chinese car...

  • For a car designed in about 1938, that was spectacular.

  • *vaya mierda...

  • en los vw no se vale chocar

  • danger car..

  • Because everybody knows most car accidents are 65 mph straight into a wall...

Actually, the occupants wouldn't have been damaged that much. As you can see the nose was crushed, but the rest of the car is fine.

  • That's because the engine is at the rear of the car, so there's an empty nose that can bend.

  • It looks good for a car that didnt changed too much since times of world war II

  • despite its rear engine, it frontal collsion it quite good, the body of this car must b quite tough

  • dont worry, that'll buff out

  • id say that bug has just been squashed

  • Oh Damn

  • In 1933, Adolf Hitler submitted sketches to Ferdinand Porsche of a proposed "Volks-Wagen" (the name means "people's car" in German, in which it is pronounced [ˈfolksvagən]), a basic vehicle that should be capable of transporting two adults and three children at a speed of 100 km/h (62 mph).

  • Hitler was the dreamer and begining concept man of the bug. Thats that. Not the final producer of it but he thought of it!

  • the engine is in the back, no hot engine in your lap. there is a fuel tank in your lap though.

  • No you fag! If you know ANYTHING about volkswagen its that the engine is in the BACK!!!

  • Well geez, you must be some sort of Volkswagen guru or something...

  • LOL U R A RETARD! xD

  • I;m sure it was not built or nothing by hitler but yea he thought it and all that stuff. I mean where and when was he gonna build it at the time? lol But yea.

  • KiroTheGreat= ass!

  • hes fuckin dead

  • No the original design of it was buy hitler your guy may have built it. But hitler desgined it. If you aregue this any more go look it up. Tard

  • It was hitlers idea to build it, but it was ctually designed by Porsche, as strange as it sounds.

  • Not really, hitler made a few rough sketches of what he wanted the peoples car to be like...the final thing was a bit different after porche ferdinand finsished DESIGNING it.

  • Wow considering its Age and size thats not bad at all. Thats Hitler's design. Fucking brilliant.

  • was not made by hitler idiot!

    was made by Ferdinand Porsche

  • Hitler had them made for his arm u dick. thats y at 38 mph the hubs spin like swatsikas. get yo shit straight

  • that looks safe.

    id drive that.

  • my question is, what speed is this bug doing at the moment of the impact????

  • 40 mph i guess....

  • i dont think so...i guess its at least 60mph...its too much damage for such a low speed

  • that's about how much damage there is in today's 40mph tests

  • I think it performed very well. Unlike most cars of it's age it managed to handle a crash into a offset object. This is the worse kind of crash test. The door might crumble but the passenger compartment was still intact. The footwells are very open so no plastic dash and supporting arms to crush legs. Poor Herbie!

  • Take a any car -50-60- or -70`s,

    Theres no safety at all.

    Be careful out there.

  • yes, but the beetle`s got engine in the back, remember that.

Bigger cars, like volvo and mercedes from 50s to 70s har much more safety than the beetle

  • Yep,that`s true. But any car from 50`s-60`s,It is big or not,is not safety at all.

    But small car`s like beetle,Anglias escorts,or

anythig else,,Or volvo,M-B,For todays standarts, theres not safety cars.

  • spitfires are pretty safe. search:

    spitfire crash test

    on youtube.

  • anyone seen those kia and smart crash tests done last year... they did not even get 1star on encap!!! will stick with my volvo though a nice passet would do!!!

  • no Herbie!

  • it's a 70 year old design

  • no airbags =O lol

  • Bleee Laka MOO Girenamaekal

  • >> Sad... but this beetle was better in crash test than all amercian cars in the 70's and 80's

Oh? Where are those crash tests? Or, are you making up a LIE?

  • I was (and in a way still am) a big fan of the old air-cooled Bug. However, my friend died in one after a crash. The old Bug has the fuel tank in the front of the car, unprotected, and in a metal case that is highly vulnerbale to sparks. The car caught fire immediately after the crash as jorikrademakers says above.

  • Not bad, actually. Notice how the cabin remained mostly intact, and that dummy could have walked out of it had he been wearing his seatbelt. Remember, the motor is actually in the back of the vehicle, and the front is mostly empty space, which makes for a very good shock absorber.

  • Not bad at all for such an old car. If you crashed it into a nearly new ford pickup you would come out better!

  • acctually, it's a 1974 ve beetle, as indicated by the vent behind the rear window, the large round tail lights, and the bumper style.

Oh yeah, i'd rather take my chances in an old aircooled bug any day than be caught dead in a new beetle.

  • acctually, it's a 1974 volkswagen beetle, as indicated by the vents behing the rear window, the large round tail lights, and the bumper style. Oh yeah, and new beetle's blow, i'd rather take my chances in the old aircooled bug anyday, over a new beetle

  • funny....the f-150's crash test was about 20x worse than this...and that car was a 2002 model....

  • no its not its a 70's car a 1302 i think

  • Sad... but this beetle was better in crash test than all amercian cars in the 70's and 80's

  • yeah they were one of the most safe cars of its time but if you get a crash with it now at high speed youre a dead man for sure we own a couple of them,my dad had a accident with a 1978 1303 the car whas totalled and he was lucky he wasnt wearing his seatbelt because he was trown out of the car the bug exploded 10 seconds after the crash :p kind of funny now i think of it...

  • Hey, it´s a 50´s car.

  • Ouch that VW got owned. Good thing new beetles have a way better crash test.
