I use to drive locally in LaCa we were on the east side one day and you could barely breathe. You have illegals all over that area and the illegals take all the pollution control off of their cars. It burns your eyes and you have difficulty breathing when I was a kid in Louisiana I would see on the news about La smog but when you see the diffenence up close it makes you sick. And the cars just keep comming all day all night. Every day vroom for what they could find a better way to get to work.

Smog is becoming a problem in many cities throughout the world(Beijing, Los Angeles, etc). All the governments of the world should act quickly to implement the infrastructure needed for green cars, such as fuel-cell cars, hybrids, and diesel cars. As far as I know, BMW is coming out with a group of diesel-powered cars and SUV's. Diesel is more efficient than gasoline and it's much more environmentally friendly.

I live in Hong Kong. This report fails to address that pollution here is mostly due to factories in Southern China. Those factories have slowed. And, Hong Kong's air quality has GREATLY improved recently I spent 9 years in NYC and I would take HK's air quality over NYC anytime. Also, it's incredibly ignorant to assume that people are wearing masks to combat pollution. The city is still incredibly sensitive to spreading germs after SARs. Happy Earth Day.
I live here too, and I agree that the factories just north of us contribute tremendously. However, HK isn't taking action on pollution which is created within the city itself, and that's a problem in itself which is worrying. If the government doesn't protect our health (in this context), how are we to persuade China that this is an important issue to us and we expect them to do the same, especially when they takeover?

Smog is becoming a problem in many cities throughout the world(Beijing, Los Angeles, etc). All the governments of the world should act quickly to implement the infrastructure needed for green cars, such as fuel-cell cars, hybrids, and diesel cars. As far as I know, BMW is coming out with a group of diesel-powered cars and SUV's. Diesel is more efficient than gasoline and it's much more environmentally friendly.

we started fixing our pollution problem in the '60's when I was in elementary school, that's why we pay a higher price for goods here. If China would work on there pollution problem we wouldn't be buying cheap stuff from there cuz it would cost them just like it did us

I live in Hong Kong. This report fails to address that pollution here is mostly due to factories in Southern China. Those factories have slowed. And, Hong Kong's air quality has GREATLY improved recently I spent 9 years in NYC and I would take HK's air quality over NYC anytime. Also, it's incredibly ignorant to assume that people are wearing masks to combat pollution. The city is still incredibly sensitive to spreading germs after SARs. Happy Earth Day.

I live here too, and I agree that the factories just north of us contribute tremendously. However, HK isn't taking action on pollution which is created within the city itself, and that's a problem in itself which is worrying. If the government doesn't protect our health (in this context), how are we to persuade China that this is an important issue to us and we expect them to do the same, especially when they takeover?

Yes and the factories re-open? We need the government to take a bigger stance on environment issues, because we are not a democratic society, the power is not in the people. But the air pollution has steadily increased over the years, and it doesn't have much to do with the economy.

the plain fact is that places all around the world are experiencing terrible changes in their climate and environmental conditions. places like Los Angeles have always been covered by smog and is always hazy.
