OMG Rachel and Paula are my aunts and Paula is my godmother and they are my dance teachers so is charlies i am so going to ask them to teach this step to me LOL!
this is amazing, I dance for the young school and it's so awesome to see some of our teachers perform. I can totally see Rachel from her blonde hair. and CheeStaysFly hardshoes are made of fiberglass not metal. did Rachel really do the choreographing? well whoever did it's amazing.
In Irish Dance you either wear soft toe shoes, which are those fancy black ones that lace up your ankle, similar to ballet shoes. Hard toe shoes are like...well they look like pilgrim shoes and have pieces of metal on the bottom like tap shoes. They're made for dancing on different surfaces and for making louder sounds.
oh. haha I'm an irish dancer too. I didn't know that some refer to hardshoe as hardtoe. thanks for your description though! Yep..hardshoes do look like pilgrim shoes..haha
Wow, you all look great. Rachel, I love your music choices and choreography. You can really hear your trebles on this video. I miss all of you and my dancing shoes. Keep sharing our proud heritage!
you dnace for them. wow that's cool. where was this take from new york. and i love irsh danceing becuase i'm irish and i use to dance for this bar in canton with a copel of my girl friends and it was so fun. but becuase of my weight it has left me to have breathing problems and stuff like that so i can't really do it anymore.
You guys were really great! Sorry I didn't catch the video earlier. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is that it's blury, I can't make out who's who with a few exceptions that are hard to miss. Really great to see the performance though! NICE job!
the second song is called the "road to ballymac", and this particular version is from the bradley brothers cd dance world, its really good, as are these dancers!
The "stage" is the floor of an arena in Rochester - our usual practice floor is much smaller. (I wasn't at the Tattoo, but am a dancer at the Young School of Irish Dance. Hopefully I'll be at their level in another year or two)
The Young School of Irish Dance(the adult class) of Rochester, NY performed this dance at the International Marine Tattoo in that was held in Rochester.
