You missed a lot, man. Chicken feet is one of the best dim sum dishes. Why are westerners so squirmish about eating chicken or for that matter, duck feet?
@trent8002003 this is a very valid question. i'm not sure why -- in our culture -- we shun many foods. i guess if i grew up eating it at a young age, it wouldn't faze me at all.
I love videos from u guys!! matter of fact, i was born in hong kong and you guys could do and eat a lot more if you've stayed there longer! Love foods in HK =)
Spent too much time on the 'Dim Sum' part... Overall, your video is very impressive!!! I agreed with sisisze2007, you need to visit Ocean Park (ideally avoid peak hours or school holidays) next time you visit HK.
thanks kennive...i appreciate you checking it out and writing your comments. i hope to get back to hong kong someday. we only had 40 hours there -- most certainly not enough time.
thanks for looking at my video! i'm glad you liked it! i was only in hong kong for 2 days, so no, i didn't make it to ocean park. i would love to come back to hong kong and see more. it is such a beautiful city!
By the way. Now I'm addicted to your travel videos. So casual and informative style. Will check them all out. Keep up the great work. I'm from Oregon. So you can imagine the wonderful overstimulation Hong Kong had on me. Had creases in my forhead for a week after coming home from having my eyes open so wide for the whole 2 weeks there. :)
Wonderful video. I visited for 2 weeks in 1987. My first time in a metropolitan city. what a great time I had. My friend lived on Lantau Island and we would take the fast boat in every afternoon after sleeping off the fun from late night before in Wanchai. (We were big drinkin' partiers back then). He had lived there for 3 years as a salesman of fishing boat supplies. So he knew everywhere to go and everything to see at the time. Had my own personal travel guide for the 2 weeks! Love that city
The dim sum I ate in vancouver nether taste as good as in hong kong. I think you should try stinky tofu next time you visit HK, although it stinks but its pretty good.
Going to Hong Kong and Tokyo for the first time in Sept. Is the Dim Sum place Maxims? Was Sushi Dai difficult to find? We're staying at the Park Hotel Shiodome and were told it's walking distance. Great videos!
yes, the dim sum place was maxims...and in tokyo, sushi dai was an experience and its right in tsukji fish market, but you have to get there really early, like line up at 5;30am because its small and there's a big line. but, in my opinion, the best sushi i've ever had is in shabuya (close to shiodome) at a place called midori in the mark city mall across from the train station. you must NOT miss that place and order the chutoro (sp)...it was fantastic. see my japan encore trip video to see
Hey man, you look like this guy I know who use to work for a little show in L.A. Does TSH ring a bell? Great videos, I know we can work together, you need a Mexican guy traveling with you.
Ah I miss hk, its such a fun and lively city. Im in a crap little california town, and its so boring. Just for clearification everything you said on the dimsum is correct, those are indeed meatballs and not fishballs. Ahhh how I long to go to Hong Kong again...
yeah, right?! they are so high-tech in hong kong. hey, thanks for the kind words on the japanese select trips page. i have worked as a tv reporter professionally. although this stuff was all shot on the fly with a small canon elph camera...and edited on a mac.
ACTUALLY.....that IS meat ball. Fish ball is not that big, and i know they dun serve fish ball of that size in that restaurant, which i used to go to everyday when i lived in the Shatin district.

channel131guy 2 years ago
I was once scared of the chicken feet. Now it's a dim-sum must have for me. Like sammytsai said... don't be fooled by its look.
quysweat 2 years ago
i'll try it...funny enough, i didn't realize when i ordered it what it was.
channel131guy 2 years ago
i "chickened out"...lol
channel131guy 2 years ago
@channel131guy
too bad matt just lick it..and spit it out..
the thing about chicken feet is the skin and the meat..
mostly the skin i'd say cuz not much meat on it.
So what the chicken skin is that its suppose to be nicely steamed/marinated with black beans.
>Also curious where is channel131 guy traveling next =P

The Dim Sum workers are likely migrant workers from Mainland China, and doesn't speak English as well as the locals.

Chicken feet is excellent. It's just like a chicken wing in that you are mainly eating the skin flavored in sauce.
