  • Love this song! I was 13 in 1980 and this song always made me feel hopeful of finding the man of my dreams! Which did happen 20 years later!

  • nice song takes me back......................

  • I was in third grade when this song came out. I still like it.. Makes me feel old though! ha ha..

    Dawn

  • i love this song bring back so many memories and i can still sing out loud!!!

  • Love the 80's! Heard this somewhere Friday night and blew my whole weekend hackin' it out on guitar. Gonna try a cover after more practice. Great song.

  • That is his 3rd U.S. one-hit wonder of 1980, written by Alan Tarney & Leo Sayer, played by American soft rock radio stations.

  • OMG...I LOVE this song. What great memories it brings of growing up.

  • Oh wow, Nostalgia with a capital N:)

  • Yes You Tube, would have never got the Joe Dolan, Cliff Richard songs that I grew up with in Pakistan, because they are not big here in the USA. Thanks You Tube

  • wow this song reminds me of when i use to get on the school bus in elementary lol been looking for this tune for such a long time finally found it cool . every morning they use to play it on the bus radio i was a kid back than

  • Still love it sober.

  • It sounds like it's coming from an AM radio.

  • I mean BEERS!! Oh screw it. I am drunk. The song is still good.

  • I messed up I was trying to say EVERYTIME!! The bers are starting to collect.

  • Evertime, ( I am from the states) I get with a new girl I think of this song. Of course I married in 03, oh then in 07(to the same women, I know cheeper to keeper)but still I always go back to this wonderful song. Alright I will not post no more, but after 30 years of listening to the same song it is good to find I am not alone.

  • This is really a good song.

  • Man evertime I hear this song it reminds of princess Leia in her hoth battle uniform. She was soo hot. I am taken back to 1980, when I got a Burger King Star Wars special kids meal and Leia was on the box. Please dont judge, I was only 7, but man, I wanted her soo bad.

  • @dotothenn --that's awesome, bro! I was 12 in 1980, and I think we had a happier childhood than the generations after us. It was not only the great AM pop and FM rock tunes of the day, but also Star Wars, Grease, Happy Days, Three's Company, Pop Rocks, Wacky Packs, Bubble Yum, flipping baseball cards, pizza for 50 cents a slice, playing outside with random kids from the neighborhood till dark--no hovering parents, no terror threats, no school lockdowns, no cellphones. Life was simpler then.

  • @DestroyerofSouls666 YEAH MAN!! I agree with you all the way. I thought I was the only one. Thanks for the reply. I can only hope that my kids will have such great memories of their childhood, as we do. I wish I could go back there sometimes, like you said it was alot simpler.

  • @dotothenn

Dude at 7? no boy ever had wood and lust. Live your post Bro!

  • I thought I was the sh"" when I told my mom all 'bout this awesome "new" (lil' did i know) to her credit...allshe said was "Good Find" BTW I'm 42

  • love his music, wired for sound is still played to get the day started

  • one of the best pop songs!! great producing and arrangements. cliff at his finist.

  • wow just wow!!

  • WOW, I worked at a dealship on fridays overnites cleanin the shop.It was summer time and we blasted a radio station that playd this song 3 times overnite. It was on a loop/track.I hated the repetition at the time, but my God it takes me back when life was simple and easy.I didnt care about $or my health and heald so easily.I always had energy and was so happy because life hadnt crushd my clean, innocent spirt. Now Im old w/ diabetes and so wish I could return to those days of bliss. i miss thm so !

  • Sir Cliff hit #10 in Billboard, 11-22-80. God bless ya, brother Harry. Thanx, cliffnohero, for postin' it.

  • This was a simple pop song. There might be four or five instruments--only his voice is layered for the backing vocals. It could be a Phil Seymour song. Sometimes the simplest is the best!

  • No wonder they knighted him.

  • I remember hearing this song in late summer 1980,

the start of my senior year in high school.....I miss those

    simple, carefree times.

  • this guy had alot of hits.he has a good career..i bet he got alot of tailfeather...lol

  • He made a damn good come back. I had heard of him as a Beatle influnece, and then comes 'back to life' musicly. Was such a treat!!

  • this really is a great song....i remember they played the hell out of it.

  • I love me some Cliff Richard, I grew up listening to him and just found him on YouTube after hearing him on the radio last night, I hope he's doing good. I miss this kind of music on the radio, I do like some Nickelback and Three Days Grace, but, I do miss this, sigh.

  • this is a good song,he really can sing pretty good.brings back memories of sneaking my little radio into my bed at night.this song played alot.its hard to imagine a small radio with earphones,in 1980.

  • @Super70duster you were masterbating in the dark while listening to Cliff Richard?

  • @JudyKhan500lbSlut .oh sure.whatever you say.i dint need to do that.ive been manwhorin since i was 10. but this is a good song.whats ur deal??

  • Anyone remember hearing a clip or two of this great hit in the movie 'Endless Love'...(when Jade's father saw David 'nude' lol...& saw Jade going back in the bedroom...So innocently lol...But you can hear this song in the background...Another great movie for that time!

  • One of my all time favorite singer. ))

  • Cliff Richard... bred in jolly ole England .....just a crumb over here (USA)

  • @nealadams70 me and my friends i grew up here adore him and his music!!! your so right though .he is so under rated... love his music ,, still a fan here.

  • @triciawashere8192 well AS YOU PROBABLY KNOW , HE IS CONSIDERED THE ELVIS PRESLEY OF THE UK...HE HAS HAD A NUMBER ONE HIT IN EVERY DECADE SINCE THE 1950S...I WATCHED HIM PERFORM ON "SOLID GOLD" AND I GUESS HE JUST CROSSED THE POND A LITTLE TOO LATE ...Did you happen to catch him on Chef Gordon Ramsey's show?

  • @nealadams70 I did not:( I need to read up on any appearances he may be on!ah...the "solid gold" show...loved it too! quilty of watching it without fail as a teen.

  • @triciawashere8192 Favorite from Mr Richards - "Suddenly" (with Olivia Newton-John)

  • @nealadams70 you also have me pinned there too:) a beautiful song and love the scene in the movie xanadu... know you know that movie!!!that type of music is just classic and lots of people dont get "it" as we do!

  • @triciawashere8192 I have the movie on VHS...Its a great movie-! The music and the story fit perfectly..I guess at the time audiences were tired of anything related to disco..not a bad tune in the picture... I was disappointed that Newton-john and Richard didnt do more performances of the song live (on tv) at the time , but YOUTUBERS seem to have found every performance AFTER the song ran its course (and posted it)

  • @nealadams70 Hi, sorry for butting in. "Xanadu" is a great movie. I have the VHS tape, the cd, the vinyl album, and the Marvel Super Special comic, lol! Btw, Neal Adams is the greatest comic artist ever, imo. His work on Batman, HOM, B & B, etc..... still looks as fresh as ever.

  • @ToddSweeneyOnce All comments are welcome, TS ! You really are a fan-! Neal Adams gave comic artists credibility and RESPECT..without this guy Todd McFarlane would never have been able to build an empire, and more importantly, the creators of SUPERMAN would have died penniless and forgotten..I'm glad he is doing some mainstream comic work again ( but sheesh ,he's almost 70)

  • @nealadams70 Thanks neal! You know, what Neal did for Siegel and Schuster was a great thing. It's a shame that he had to do that really. DC should have taken it upon themselves to do it anyway, but thankfully Neal was there for them! True story: I don't know about you, but I remember the first 10 comics I ever bought new, and one of them was Batman # 251 back in 1973. Even at age 8, I remember thinking I had found something special when I read that book. It's still my favorite Batman book!

  • @ToddSweeneyOnce That issue was the "Joker" issue...he was killing off his henchmen..it is classic (art and story) !How DC got away with so much comic violence (it was '73) is amazing to me.. I got that issue at a convention in the late 1980s (still have it)..My fav was the Ras Al Ghul storyline , because it crossed over into the other "Batman "books, (DC usually had "stand-alone " stories)... DC has always been a small part of a bigger organization, and had always shafted artists and creators

  • @nealadams70 Yeah, that story was pretty brutal for '73! The Ras Al Ghul storyline is my 2nd favorite. It really was excellent. I was thinking about another great Batman artist yesterday. Irv Novick drew a pretty mean Batman too. Very underrated in my opinion.

  • @ToddSweeneyOnce yep....Mr Novick was on the book for several years...he had been in the comic biz since the late 40s (and his style evolved, thanx to the Adams / Giordano influence)...I always liked the style of Jim Aparo, another artist whose artistic style resembled Adams somewhat (but was, in a since, a variation that made it unique)...He was on the "BRAVE and BOLD" for years..I remember the first time I saw his work ,it was a Batman team-up with Wonder Woman against Catwoman (#131)

  • O MY is Cliff wearing leather or am I dreaming?

    what an incredible performer *sigh*

  • This was first song I ever saw on YouTube some years ago. And this song is just as good now as when I first listened it on the radio in 1980. Thank you, cliffnohero, for this post.

  • One of my first crushes. lol

  • Remember a time when you could turn on the radio and hear great music? This was it!

  • @philaman1972 Hi Phil, yes, I was driving in a '72 VW Super-Beetle at the time, they were wonderful years. I remember fondly twisting the knob of the FM radio in that vehicle (I still have one!!) and listening to music of this quality that one could hear on an almost weekly basis. Those were the days when artists wrote good music and sung it with a passion. They don't do it like that anymore. God, I'm glad I grew up in the '70's!

  • Wow...do i feel old 41 er 39..man this song ruled on those amazing Friday and Saturday nite skates at Skating Plus in Williamsport Pa, circa early 80s! showing off the moves for all those pretty young things, man those were the best times! Thanx for a great skating song Cliff!

  • Pining away for Missy Carleson in the 8th grade when she didn't even know I was alive.

  • Another loved song by me who has loved Cliff Richard since I was a little boy.

  • Dancing with Laura Lang in Grade 7.

  • Cliff looks so hot in this video

  • HAPPY 70TH BIRTHDAY MR.RICHARD.......

  • @chrisporter61 Where does the time go?

  • Happy B Day Cliff ! LOVE YOu...

  • I love this song. can't play it enough. Thanks for the upload.

  • Cliff sings this brilliantly, it's definitely the best video from his best period as already been said. He sings it perfectly.

  • He really needs a bass player in his band!!! The sound reminds me of 1969 when i bought my first AM radio. The ones you could carry around with you. Kinda tinny sounding. Dont mind me, im just whining - still love the video

  • low fi rules

  • Did'nt leo sayer write this g8 song

  • This song reminds me when I was a teenager traveling from Rosslare to Le Harve, now 43, I still love this song, has not faded at all, Keep producing those great songs Sir Cliff

  • Can't say I'm a big Cliff fan but this is a cracking good pop song.

  • What would we all do without You Tube. It gives us so much pleasure in the nostalgia department and excites our personal reveries.

  • @rohansrider I have never heard it stated better than that. :)

  • Agreed the best time: 76 - 88 and also the way he looked. Great songs and handsome, youthful guy.

  • To the people who think he is just middle of the road pap, have a listen to this. The reality is that Cliff is one of the greatest pop singers of all time who every now and then did truly remarkable material. Alongside this song, check out Carrie, Yes He Lives, Try A Smile, Joseph, Hot Shot, Devil Woman, Miss You Nights, We Don't Talk Anymore, Never Even Thought, Can't Ask For Anything More Than You and to be honest, dozens of others.

His music from 76-88 was his best, Dreamin' his best vocal.

  • Remember when you could get goose bumps when a song came on?

  • When music "didn't suck!!

  • Comment removed

  • I remember this song from 1980, my senior

  • cada vez que escucho esta cancion me acuerdo de mi hermano SAMUEL ( LITO ) ESTABA ENAMORADO Y SIEMPRE ESCUCHABA ESTA CANCION UFF ALLA POR LOS AÑOS 80 CREO, TE EXTRAÑO HERMANITO SI LEES ESTO TE QUIERO MUCHO HERMANO

  • I don´t agree with this words. THE BEST PERIOD OF ALL THESE SINGERS ARE THE SEVENTIES. that´s all! 80´s sucks

  • @dps023 There was great tuneage from the 80s as well!

  • cool, keep singing!!!

  • Hypocrite. Bash Gary Numan and steal all his visuals. Where would your visuals be? Great song, but I'm disgusted to even look at him. Hypocrite.

  • Imagine that amount of Cliffs to go around WOW can you imagine that thanks for this posting he is so Good at what he does best

  • I was in Middle School (6th grade) when this song came out. Great song from Cliff Richard (Solid Gold tv show days).

  • excelente cantante, muy bueno, a cuantas mujeres les habra roto el corazon, tan solo con su voz.

  • I was in high school(1980) when it was released. They practically played on the radio almosy everyday. But I never got tired of it. Fantastic memories for me!

  • Yes, he did also his part in the eighties...and a damn good song...MORE FANTASTIC ´80´s music on my channel!!!!

  • Cute video and cool song IF you can wade through all the cheese..........

  • Really good songs are worth hearing several times...like this one!

  • This is a great tune! I actually have an old " Danger! High Voltage" 33 LP album made by Ktel from 1981 with this song on it.

  • You make me dreaming Haley..... i want you my sweet vision , remember that

  • @kiones12 ~~I will always be dreaming of you Mariano.I want and need you darlin'!

  • I used DJ dances in the early 80's this was such a big hit back then

the feeling of meeting someone for the first time, your very first date, first kiss, those are precious memories I wish i could go back those times were so innocent

  • is he the first emo?

  • Great, loved it. Brings back a lot of memories

  • I have always loved this song! I think I was 12 when it came out.

  • That is a good good GOOD SONG!

    HURRA for Cliff.

  • This is the song I dig out a long time. It's my good memory. Sir !!! Cliff Richard.

  • wat a great song im a big fan

  • For me, this is Cliff's best ever vocal performance. Even though this wasn't produced by Bruce Welch, it was Bruce who encouraged Cliff to sing right at the top end of his register which he didn't do in the 50s or 60s. Check out "Can't Ask For Anything More Than You" which has Cliff doing a Bee Gee-like falsetto - just brilliant.

  • solid gold performance. One of my favorites

  • 80s memories great songs!

  • What a great song and singer. Have always been a fan. Thank you for the video. LOL

  • I've been looking for this song, but couldn't remember Cliff Richard's name. I kept confusing it with Keith Richards:) I was listening to a interview with Randy Bachmann and the Greatest voice in rock--Burton Cummings. The were talking about early influences on their music and mention CLIFF Richard and the Shadows from the early 60s. Badda-bing. Here I am. Thanks Randy and Burton.

  • wowo!!!

  • Cliff Richard is amazing talented...going way back to the 60's. When I heard some of his later songs I thought they must be talking about some other Cliff Richard.

  • they just don't make them like they used to

  • I remember this song in the movie "endless love".

  • AND ON TOP OF ALL THAT TALENT... he's gorgeous!

  • Nowadays lyrics and musics are so malicious...It´s good to know that musics like this one, Cliff Richards, romantics and really nice don´t died, and never will.....

  • Amen! The 80's were great times and great music

  • I really find it ridiculous when people talk about how there's no good music around these days! Listen to a band called "TV on the Radio" they're a little strange but their music is filled with intellectual depth& and storys about love. Go for it ;})

  • I read your comment and listened to several of their songs. I just couldnt get into it. Not terrible, just thought the lead vocal was weak. But I can see others liking it. But I tried. Thanks for bringing them up.

  • Onya Cliff...

  • It brings me back along way, but , unforyunately, not my teenage years. How bout the early 30's?????

  • This song brings me back to my teenage years

  • I was in Junior High School when this song came out.

  • Obvoiusly a freaking lib.

  • Lookin for the truth... dreamin..

  • a radi DJ mentioned this song in which the subject was songs with dream

  • Her am I....

  • woooooo hoooo this song goes off wooooooohoooooooooooooo

  • Another great song !! from 1980 ? that's a long time ago . all we have to do is dream now .

  • love itttttttt

  • Woman! Woman, believe him, he dreams of women! Why won't anyone believe him?

  • Big Stinko's! still live in this world, But can they do anything else?

  • I'll bet he was getting laid left and right back then. Whether it was with men or women is neither here nor there, fans.

  • Cliff fact 45: When asked what he does when he's not lip syncing into a hairbrush, cliff retorted, "Do you think these pores exfoliate themselves?"

  • that's pretty damn funny

  • Cliff fact 1131: Cliff employs a man to be deliberately stung by bees so that Cliff ( a well known bee hater ) can finish them off without reprisal!

  • Yes!!!! he is a year younger than me. We are both still going strong. And can still dance better than Micko Jackson...

  • Love you Katisha :-)

  • He put out some awesome tunes!

  • Damn - you mean he was 40 in this video? The guy's got some good genes. I just turned 40 but recall how all the girls liked him when I was in 5th grade (circa 1980).

  • youre old

  • "He dreamed. But his daddy never came home"..

  • You're a wannabe faggot. If not, why bother commenting?

  • I'm dreaming dreaming of me and you...

    Thankyou darling

  • Cliff fact 3678: The force field seen at 1:39 was created by a group of intelligent sparrows who were determined to stop Cliff mutilating their newly laid eggs. Unfortunately for them and us, he escaped.

  • do people have nothing better to do than speculate on someone's sexuality. he was great to listen to in the disco period and beyond.

  • Even if he is (Cliff) what difference does it make? Who really cares? Why is it an issue anyway? Great music from a great time period.

  • Harry Webb is not Queer. But most of you would go that far, to be where he is today. Jealousy will get you nowhere.

  • He's a queerhawk!

  • You wish. ;)

  • Stop dissing my man Cliff. He's a rich, bad boy gangsta & he'll pay Vinnie Jones to chop your gayboy head off.

  • Yeah but Cliff Richard is!

  • Cliff fact 1069: Cliff shagged all the other fellas in this video!

  • ha ha ;)
