I was objecting more on your statement that Xavi and Iniesta are a batter passer then Scholes. The end product is his ability to dictate the tempo of the game, never giving defensive midfielders like Viera a chance to mark him, putting the ball on the feet of open wingers and strikers. i think scholes is only getting the credit now that he's nearing the end really. On the zidane issue. Zidane is the best player of my generation but scholes is certainly the best central midfield player i've ever saw. I was objecting more on your statement that Xavi and Iniesta are a batter passer then Scholes. The end product is his ability to dictate the tempo of the game, never giving defensive midfielders like Viera a chance to mark him, putting the ball on the feet of open wingers and strikers. Zidane can do more breathtaking moves, dribbling and such, what he cant do like Scholes is defend. Scholes are a complete midfielder. He can play just as good as a defensive midfielder as a offensive one.

i think scholes is only getting the credit now that he's nearing the end really. On the zidane issue. Zidane is the best player of my generation but scholes is certainly the best central midfield player i've ever saw. He's not just a pass master he's so intelligent, has a powerful shot, good header of the ball also. Scholes is a meastro and the only midfield player at united that you could compare with Sir Bobby Charlton(arguably man utd greatest ever player). Zidane is a legend no doubt.

This is not the case. Scholes represents a certain type of player, a certain particular vintage. This so called magic of Zidane's mainly consisted of flashy ball tricks that normally serve little purpose. Scholes controls the game in a highly sophisticated way that does not require balls tricks.
