Elsewhere on YouTube you can hear an unexpurgated X-rated version of this song - filled with the most colorful profanity I've ever heard in a song, outFoxing Redd Fox.
This duo decided to have a little fun in the studio with this song. They sing a very, very, very raunchy/raucus version of this song. I'm not sure it was meant for public consumption, but it was funny.
The Brook Benton song of the same name is an entirely different song, a ballad type that is sooo smooth. I like both, did when they were new, and I thank you for posting this.
GREAT STUFF, Lavern Baker -- Jackie Wilson. Soul with Rock. Both brilliant singers from the 50s and the 60s. As played on Radio Sutch in the 60s. Just love the guys. Colin Dale Radio Sutch.
Yo Xpinger, cool post of the "clean" version of this colabo!! There's an alternate "dirty" version of this tune on this compilation of "adult" songs from the 40-60s out of Germany called "Eat To The Beat"!! Thanks for posting again now I fully appreciate both takes!!
TEXNIGHTOW....I drive my friends crazy. I post all of my favorites to facebook and then I don't have to look up the links everytime I want to hear a favorite like THINK TWICE.
Yes, it is definitely a more energetic, tougher version and really amusing. I would love to have been at that session! Two of the greatest voices ever.
Thanks for posting this!! I never thought Jackie Wilson could be pushed, but Lavern takes him until his last falsetto...
It's criminal that this song was ignored when it was released--if this was on Motown or Stax, it'd be on oldies radion 24/7...instead, Brunswick treated it horribly.
@Rainwhisker167 only up side to that is that the 45 is now dead cheap for us soul lovers! paid 9 bucks for a dead stock copy on ebay brand spankin new never played... :)
@scottybroker Jackie never was with Motown--Berry Gordy (his cousin) wrote songs for him (Lonely Teardrops and Reet Petite, for example), and used his song royalties from those hits to help start Motown. Apparently Gordy did want Wilson for Motown, but Wilson refused to leave Brunswick, saying, "My head says go, but my heart says stay." However, Motown's musicians backed up Wilson on "Higher and Higher" and "Whispers", though not with Gordy's permission.

hey all you 'R&B producers'. job one today should be listening to this goddamned amazing recording and wondering where you went wrong.
here are a few things you should look into:
tube amps
'tape'
a band (yes that includes an actual drummer.)
no overdubs.
and last, but certainly now least, 'talent'.
...now go get 'em.
