This is the best entry in the Frankenstein. It shows that even in his old age Terence Fisher was a master at his craft. It went down hill for hammer when he stopped directing the dracula series. There were still some gems after this film but they were much fewer and far between.
Peter Cushing rarely looked more evil and sinister than when he tore off his mask in this film. It's definitely his most nightmarish and disturbing Baron Frankenstein.
I did see Curse Of Frankenstein also. But it was mild in comparison to this one. C.urse of ....... was not as suspenseful nor as thrilling as Frankenstein must be .........
I really could sympatize with that poor soul who woke up only to find himself in someone else's body.
The end result of a brain transplant by Dr. Frankenstein.
In this film Baron Frankenstein is one ruthless bastard who will stop at nothing to achieve his dubious goal.

What is Frankenstein doing with a mask and a bucket? Was he Trick-or-Treating? :)

This is one of the rare occasions when Peter Cushing really played an outright villain. Great actor.

This is not a character one can sympathize with.

Really quite spectacular! Probably the strongest entry in the series although "Curse" is a strong contender.
A perfect combination of James Bernards stirring music,Terence Fishers assured direction and of course the baron himself Cushing on top form.

No doubt about that.
