Can someone help me with the soundtrack ? I am more interested in the song when they are at the club and he is dancing with the girl in red! pls pls pls :D
Physically the cost of living leaves "Enter Achilles" standing. The physical work in this piece is incredible. The piece where David is on his arms and the rest of the group are behind him is so challenging (trust me I had to do it for a piece of theatre and incorporate the motif they use) where as "Enter Achilles" although very good lacks the sheer awe inspiringness of the work in Cost Of Living, in my opinion
I too saw Cost of Living, at the West Yorkshire Playhouse a few years ago. It was, and still is, the singularly most affecting, outrageous, challenging and memorable thing that I have ever seen. I left the theatre that night feeling like my brain cells had been atomised, magnetised and electrified in one go. I will never, ever forget that perf. as long as I live.
I was in awe of the performers, and scared and enthralled at the same time. Amazing.
Jesus, i have a performance studies exam on monday and we are doing about dead dreams of monochrome men. We have watched this video before too and we have to make reference in the exam. Scary stuff. I'm just lookin for the videos again so i can refer, cos i'm a nervous wreck, lol.
For my own performance I bent my legs right back and then fastened them there with a belt, imposing on myself the same physical restrictions Toole has. Toole doesn't allow said restrictions to get in the way of his expression through dance, and that was inspirational to me, and something I wanted to emulate.
Great stuff. I watched this DVD as part of my preperation for a dance performance at university earlier this year, all about the image of the body on stage. I took a particularly large amount of inspiration from David Toole's performance here (that's the dancer in this film with no legs).

This film was one of the best things I've ever seen on television. Absolutely incredible. It was on one night at about 1.30am and I was gobsmacked.
