Vince Vaugh's O'Hare seemed to be created as the "anti-Rudy." In other words, an exceptionally talented player without heart. Actually, the way the movie portrayed the last score, the Georgia Tech coach could have complained that Notre Dame was running up the score.
He actually did get a sack on the last play on the last game of the season. 1:40 on the video.
Joe Montana, who was quarterback for Notre Dame back then, confirmed Rudy did make the sack, but he said all parting seniors get at least one play before the season was over. It's still impressive though.
@thndrct218 USC defeated Arizona last night and now stands at 4-1 for the season. THE DOMERS once again defeated some shitty Purdue team that could not beat it's way out of a wet paper bag. Kelly = Murderer of young Declan. RUDY = FICTION! Fight ON USC BABY!
@irishfan84 RUDY = Fiction and ND = Zero wins and two losses after week two. Congratulations to the DOMER's from the MOOSE of USC who is undefeated after week number two.
@imanicekid1 They did score a late TD that put the defense back on the field and enabled Rudy to get in the game, but they didn't score for the specific purpose of getting Rudy a chance to play.
@Hunkola This movie is just down right great. I'm with ya on that, very inspirational film. Hell it makes me wanna walk on somewhere at 30 years old and play.
@imanicekid1 The actually did score with about 28 seconds left in the real game back in 1975. It wasn't so Rudy could play, but they were up 21-3. So I don't know why they didn't just take a knee. It also wasn't that far of a play. The play started around the 7 yard line.
@imanicekid1 The movie wasn't THAT exaggerated. The team had to score to get the D out for the last couple of plays. Rudy had done an interview for Notre Dame's student paper, basically saying he WANTED to play. Most of the team and some of the fans had read it and started the chant for him to play. IDK if the play was called differently, but the score and the play in the movie is basically the same as real life.
great mix of parts in the movie but the best part is when he sacks the quarter back everytime i watch this movie i try not to cry when he gets carried off the field at the end!!!!!
JOE MONTANA arrived in Notre Dame in 1974. He wasn't allowed to start as a freshman (rule back then). I wonder if he was on the sideline watching the inspiration of Rudy in this game? It was 1975, so my guess is that Montana was playing backup? The timline fits.
@Mvp0131 First of all who said I was in this clip you fucking wannabe. I don't need to prove anything to anyone especially you. I'm not even in this clip loser.
Chelcie Ross plays Coach Devine in this movie... if you dont know who that is, he's the guy who played the crafty veteran pitcher Eddie Harris in the first Major League, and that guy George in Hoosiers
@CatieCass Whatever. I'm #59 in blue in the practice scenes. We were trying to tell JASON that a real big time coach wouldn't be squirming around like that unless he were Charlie Weiss. ha ha inside joke.
@CatieCass Yeah, the only real ND player in this movie was #75 the guy talking to Rudy in this clip. Man, that was a loooonnnng time ago. Well, not that long.
@danwalsh92 they tried to score because head coach Dan Devine wanted to get him in.... they exaggerated in the movie because devine didnt want to put him in but in reality he wanted Rudy in the game!
knew this for years..even before Vince was REALLY famous...I would always say..."there's that ahole halfback from Rudy again"...now he is a comedic star. Life is surreal.
Yeah, I saw the last bit of this today (still haven't seen the whole thing!), and noticed Vince under the helmet. He's credited waaaaay down as "Vincent Vaughn". I guess this must be where he and Jon Favreau met, and then went on to do "Swingers" and "Made" together...
