You don't win boxing by just landing the most powerful punches, if you can't knock down your opponent your powerful punches are useless, granting that same round your opponent landed MORE light punches at you he still wins that round! Boxing is scored round by round by a 10-Point Must Scoring System. This means that the boxer who wins the round gets 10 while the loser gets 9(10-8 if 1KO 10-7 if 2KO's and so on). Even if he landed powerful hits but fail to get a knock down it's still 10-9!

Marquez just defended his spot (the challenger) extremely well, what he did not do is challenge Pacquiao for his title, instead being content to exchange with Pacquiao only after Manny went seeking an exchange.
Pacquiao did as Champions do , he went looking to retain his title, not only defending it with aggressiveness but firing back after he was countered, keeping intact his role as the titlist.

Marquez “You must beat the champ , to be the champ”. Counter punching challengers only really win close contests if they overwhelm their opponent, they do not win contests if they lay back and wait for the action to greet them at the front door.
If you are a champion and counterpunch, you are defending your title in a judges eyes and more consideration is giving in that event.
The scorecards, punches landed , and power punch numbers do not lie. Marquez cheated and did not win. He must retire.

People, the fight was close! I think we can all agree with that. I mean yes, Marquez landed big shots but it's not like Pacquiao got knocked out or got his face f***ed up right? Also if you'll be honest enough to admit that Pacquiao threw more punches and landed more, I mean it's now volume vs. few power punches. It should even out as far as scores from the judges. I gave marquez the 6th round but it couldve gone either way too. i know its a close fight and marquez couldve won it, but it wasnt a robbery, its just one of those fights that its really hard to score, well atleast IMO. Compubox tells us that pac threw and landed more punches but marquez threw the more cleaner punches. I had marquez winning this fight 7 rounds to 5.
