They keep going on about wish fulfillment when Stephen hits Hugh but if you've seen their earlier work you know that was pretty much as common thread through all series of Fry & Laurie :D
@kayper54 No it's not. It's perplexing to see Hugh (the brilliant portrayer of Bertie Wooster, Prince George/Ludwig, Jasper, etc.) skilfully play an eccentric American doctor in a merely above average American sitcom, which has been severely exhausted and overdone.
That John Loyd guy is someone that mankind should be thankful for. He is the man behind the QI which is such a great show, and now i've just realised he was the producer of Blackadder. Many thanks to unknown people like him.
What I love about "I just really liked falling over and he liked making me fall over" is that you can ABSOLUTLEY tell just watching all the physical comedy that they've done along those lines, that that is exactley why they did it. It's apparent.
I cannot imagine that he hasn't been offered knighthood yet. The man's one of England's most beloved and brilliant national treasures. I think he must have turned down knighthood. He wouldn't be the first to do so, but such rejections are usually kept private, or only made known years later.

"It's [Stephen Fry's] purpose in life to be kind."

For a man whose purpose it is to be kind. Stephen Fry can throw out insults better than anyone I've ever seen.

It is so amusing to see Prince Charles here, since Stephen actually portrayed him in Blackadder, the Cromwell episode. :)

@EnigmaDrath Aww if he has turned down knighthood it's such a shame, but somehow his modesty just makes him seem even more wonderful :)
Lilopossum 1 year ago 5
@spazzing There should be a joint knighthood for all of the Blackadder cast and maybe Emma Thompson just because of footlights :D
